Chapter 1.
I've always hated the colour orange. As I sit here in my fluorescent orange prison jumpsuit, I hate it even more. Now before you ask, I better give you some background to why I'm sitting in the dark cell if the highest security prisons in the world. My name is Alice Cain and I am, well was, one of the deadliest assassins in the world. And yes, it is a coincidence that my last name is the same as the guy who (according to the Bible) committed the first murder ever but hey, it makes sense.
Anyway I'm sitting in a cell in the world best maximum security prison and it's most likely I will never see the outside of these walls. My fate hasn't been decided yet but I'm betting on the lethal injection. An eye for an eye I guess. When you arrive in your cell, they give you 5 things, clean sheets for your concrete bed, a small black and white TV that only plays religious services , the dreaded orange jumpsuits, a pen and a black diary. I think the purpose is to write letters to your family or write out apologies or something but I'm using mine for a slightly different reason, to tell my story. I'm going to reveal how I ended up in this position, and I don't mean in prison, I mean becoming a killer, a monster. I'm not trying to justify my actions or pretend I'm noble or brave, I simply want to let people know why I ended up like this. That is presuming people actually read this and it doesn't end up in an incinerator or on the rusty old trolley filled with worm paperbacks for us vigilantes to read. I'll probably never find out.
