The final bell rang.

It was May 25, the last day of school.

All the students of Hartford High School rushed out of their classrooms.

Except for Benny, no, he took his time gathering his books. He would need them all to review over the summer. He loves being prepared for the next year.

Max walked to his girlfriend’s class. He dodged the flying pens, stepped over the paper and avoided abandoned notebooks. He couldn’t wait for the bonfire tonight, where he’d tell her how he feels about her. He walked slower when he saw Darla hugging some girl. The girl parted from Darla with some fake tears. Silently he slipped his arm around her waist and kissed her soundly on the mouth.

“Hey baby,” he greeted.

She smiled, making his head spin. “I love your greetings.”

They started walking towards the door. “How do you feel? You’re a junior now.”

“How do you feel? You’re going to college,” She always did that, answer a question with a question. But this particular question did weird things to his inside. Sure, he wanted to go college, sure, he would go to Hartford University, sure he would still see Darla but not as much as before. He’d miss her.

“I don’t know,” he answered. He stopped walking. “All I know is that I’ll miss seeing your beautiful face every forty minutes, between classes,” He ran his fingers over her beautiful brown skin, her black hair moved from the slight breeze coming from the open door, her brown orbs looking at him with so much adoration and love. That made him smile. He loved her too.

He kissed her, blocking out the world. It was just the two of them. No one else.

I love you.

Lulu sat on a table in the mechanic room. She kept playing with her lighter, bored out of her mind.

Snap.

Snap.

Snap.

She was in every sense a Goth. She always wore black. She hated everything. She had no friends; she didn’t need them. She looked to her right where John, Wood and Lee were joking around. They were in no rush to leave. They had yet to do the Senior Prank.

John caught her looking and scowled at her. “What are you looking at, you child of Satan?”

John and Lee laughed. Wood didn’t. He’s always been nice to her. Wood smiled gently at her. She smiled back softly. John and Lee rolled their eyes. They never understood what their friend saw in her. She was ugly, ugly and ugly, not forgetting to mention, she was the child of Satan.

Wood got up from his chair and walked to her. He closed her lighter and put a hand on the table, near her thigh. “Why do you always play with your lighter?”

“I love fire,” she answered simply. That’s how she received the title ‘Child of Satan’, she was always with fire.

“Great, so hopefully, I’ll see you at the bonfire tonight?” he said, walking up and down her thigh with his fingers.

“I’ll be there,” She said, lighting up her lighter near his face. “Where there’s fire, there’s me.”

“That’s the spirit,” he smirked.

Miranda walked toward the parking lot with Lauren, Darla’s twin, in tow. They promised to meet up with Jake, Matt and Isaac right after the bell to discuss their plans for tonight. They were going to the bonfire, of course, but what they would do at the bonfire was the question. Miranda and Jake would announce their engagement but what Lauren wanted to do was against her principles.
