Prologue
The "Hidden" aren't something to mess with, but at this point it doesn't matter. I' "rebelled" against the top ten and now they are out to kill me. This is not true, I would never. It's not a matter of discussion because The Hidden won't listen. I'm just as screwed as a fish in the desert. Nothing matters now because now my family doesn't want to help me. With the help of my friends Eli, a manipulator, and Kayla, a switcher, I could at least get as far as to traveling above grounds to Earth and convince The Elders that I am innocent. But the question is, how will get there? I came up with scenarios on how I would get up there. I thought about fighting my way through, they couldn't be that strong. I mumbled at myself to how I would battle my way up. But now, the thought is too risky , so for now I will lay low for a while. But one day, when the skies are golden, I will rise up to Earth and redeem my innonence.
Chapter 1 Scouters
"Rise and shine sleepy head". I heard the calming voice of Kayla as she nudged against my sleepy arm. " There's no time to lose, some scouters could be on our tail". Eli exclaimed. Scouters, the very name made my stomach twist with violence. The scouters are The Hiddens very own pets. It wasn't their choice to serve them, they had to.
Every living thing was forced to conform to The Hidden. There was no option, it was either obey or die. However I found the third choice, which lead me to where I am now. I'm a "rogue" ,who in the eyes of society, disobeyed orders and .'traveled to the outskirts'.
Why would I do that? I kept thinking to myself on how deliberately dumfounded that accusation was. I, the once great leader of the slayers, forced to cower in fear and rot away at the bottom of SoulaTerre, the underground kingdom below earth. This drove me beyond the extent of control. I wished to cast myself to The Outskirts, where The Hidden lie, and murder each one of them in their sleep. Yet however, I knew for a fact that I couldn't even take down their gatekeeper. I thought and thought as I packed up my things and hurried to one of my ships I managed to steal just before I was banished from the kingdom.
"So where do we go now?", Kayla scoffed. "I think we should head north to the Sombre woods",. "And do what?" she asked. " We should lay low for a while until things get under control.. At least wait until The Hidden has cooled down from the trial. Then we should travel to "The mountains" and work our way to Earth.". "You know The Hidden won't let go of this right? Especially because you're alive. I believe they won't stop until one of us is dead."Kayla smartly replied. She always has a way to cut through my ideas. After all, she is the once great daughter of Odin.
Odin is the leader of the Switchers. I've heard he is intellectual and wise, and rumor has it that he holds a rank among The Hidden. Even if it's true, why would a Switcher associate himself with The Hidden. The Hidden is supposed to be made up of ten individuals whose powers are like none other. So why would Odin, a well known morpher be one of The Hidden? But then I hear about Kayla talking about how her father and his "tricks". Maybe there is something mysterious about Odin and no one knows.
Kayla noticed that something wasn't right with me. "Hey, are you alright?", she questioned with her crisp eyes. "Yeah, I'm fine", I lied. "Maybe we should be getting on our way, you know, so the trackers don't catch up with us". "Where's Eli?", I asked. "Oh he's down by the river catching some meat for us to eat on the way there." "It's been an awful long time , I hope he caught alot of meat." I said curiously. Kayla looked at me and I could see that she too felt worried about Eli's long absence. "I'll be back", I murmured.
I flew through the trees, jumping from branch to branch. I could feel the wind whistling through my brown hair. I felt my energy surge through my veins, I finally reached my destination. Eli was nowhere in sight. "Where could he be?", I asked myself. "Hmm maybe he-".
"Looking for someone?", The voice ringing through my ears. I could tell it was Eli. There is no one who's voice can be as monotone as his. "Woah, you had me worried, I thought something had got to you". Eli stared at me with his stern eyes then spoke. "Now Oliver, you should know that I was once the great manipulator who traveled deep into the outskirts. These scouters are nothing and can't touch me at all Haha.", he let out a muffled laugh.
I tried not to laugh at his bland voice, it was just too monotone. His voice sounded like a sloth on a gloomy day. It was just so, so....zombie. However, his voice differs from his personality. Eli is a strong manipulator and was always rank one back in the academy days. His brute strength wasn't how he kept his rank, it was his intelligence as well. Eli, from the day we met, has always been smarter than I, and I will never forget how he beat me in chess in just six moves. The odds have changed now, I am a powerful slayer and could easily defeat him in a match.
"So", I murmured. "How much meat did you get? You were here for quite a while." He replied while patting his bag. "Enough to last us the ride, say a, where are we going away?", he asked
"I have no clue mayb-". Just as I spoke, a quick breeze swooped across the trees and headed straight for camp. There was no time to waste, Eli and I exchanged eye contact then both whispered."Scouters".
A heavy battlecry ringed in my ears and it was Kaylas. Eli and I ripped through the trees with tremendous trees and tore right through the pine trees. "How many of them do you think there are?" Eli asked. " "I dont know, but from this tingling feeling I could say there's alot." We reached camp and saw six scouters. One of the scouters was familar, I believed his name is Victor Flicht.
Kayla rushed to my side and we all stood there, analyzing out opponents.
"Victor Flicht." Kayla said with arrogance. "The one and only", he replied. "So they sent you huh?", Eli asked." For what, we've done nothing wrong." Eli snapped
"I'm here to capture Kayla, special orders from Odin." Kayla butted in." Well I'm not going, and you're damn sure not taking me back there." Kayla scoffed in disgust. "Always have to be so difficult," Victor smiled then stared viciously at us. "Get them!", Victor whipped through the air along with his five henchmen and made a blur that was confusing to the human eye. A heavy storm of wind rushed down to us, and Kayla, Eli and I jumped into battle.
The blur that confined my eyes seemed not to disperse, but it was not enough to take me down. I wondered why I could not see past this, and then I heard Kayla yell, " IT'S A FLASH, IT'S A FLASH." It made sense; One of Victor's henchman blighted me with one of the vines she held inside of her dark, pompous shawl. The poison emitted from the vine caused a cataract to grow rampant without limits; I was nearly blind. I heard the henchman shuffle across the ground and the steps grew heavier. Then, with great force, Victor slung me back several yards with his fist. The pain I was experiencing was ineffable. My face hit the dirt and my eyes drew heavy. Only my ears could decipher what was happening in front of me.
I could hear Eli's monotone voice shout over the henchman's giggling; however, his voice was cut short by a loud explosion that happened hitherto. The giggling then emerged and sounding like pandemonium of the south when they heard of the emancipation proclamation. This time Victor contributed his dark voice. A wave of epinephrine gushed through my veins and reach my stomach where the pain resided - I jumped to my feet and resumed battle. Nearly blind, I rushed to the nearest chortle and danced with the body in front of me. Our fists clashed and
