"It's what he said."

America

The weekend came quick and I hadn't managed to talk to the group about Shawn. I never found the right time, especially since we all started hanging out as a group again. I didn't want to make him feel weird if I were to say it to the group in front of him. So I decided to wait till the weekend, Laur invited me over for girls night.

It was odd to be back hanging over at her house. So instead I told her that we could meet at my house. I'm slowly changing but still closed off, I just think her parents wouldn't be as understanding as she was. Baby steps, that's all I needed to do right now.

I cleaned up house and my dad said he had a late shift. He told me he wouldn't be home till four in the morning. My dad also left me money for food and if we go out later or the next day. I finished up sweeping and cleaning my counters, I then heard the doorbell ring.

I sighed before going and opening my front door. I opened it just to have a blabbering Laur walk in.

"So horror movie night? Or chick flick? Cause part of me wants to watch all of the Conjuring movies but then I want to watch Pretty Woman." Laur asked as she dropped her overnight bag by my couch.

I laughed as I shut the door, "Well hello to you too."

"Sorry, I'm just excited to be doing this again. Like I know we did it last weekend when shit blew up but it's like old times!" She said excitedly.

I smiled, "It's okay! I'm glad we're doing this again."

"So what? Horror or romance?" She asked as we sat down on the couch.

"Actually I have to tell you something, it's nothing bad or big though." I started out.

Lauren laughed, "Okay? What is it?"

"Shawn drove me home a few days ago. Monday actually." I told her.

Her eyes popped and jaw dropped, "How did you manage to get through a week without telling me? Did you guys kiss? Did he admit his love for you? Oh my god he remembers!"

I rolled my eyes, "Lauren calm down! None of that happened, he drove me home and we talked."

"About?" She asked, she looked like I was about to drop a bunch of juicy details.

"About how annoying you and the guys are. Well more like anyone trying to get him to remember things. He wants to start fresh, embrace his new life." I explained.

She narrowed her eyes at me, "why didn't he just tell us himself?"

I shrugged my shoulders, "Honestly I thought the same thing but I he said he didn't want to make it seem like he wasn't trying. He didn't want to let you all down, so he wanted me to tell you and the guys and just let it go."

She turned to look at the tv and crossed her arms, "I get it, I do. But this is bullshit like I don't care if he doesn't remember a lot of things but you? His relationship with you? He doesn't want to remember that?"

I loved her for being upset that Shawn doesn't want to remember. I mean she only hated it because that means he wouldn't remember me as anything more than his friend. I accepted it though, I knew what he wanted and if it meant him not remembering us then that's okay. I could only imagine how frustrating it feels, so why make it worse?

"Lauren I love you for wanting him to remember me but you need to get over it. I'm okay and he said he wants to be friends and that's good for me. It's something which is better than nothing." I confessed.

"Mer he dated Sara again! He clearly needs our help in guiding him in the right direction." She told me.

I nodded, "Yes I realize that but why can't we let him figure things out for himself? He's 18 and he can make his own decisions whether they're right or they're wrong. If he wants our opinions then let him ask us for them."

Lauren stayed silent but had a pout on her face. She was upset which was what Shawn knew would happen.

"Hey no pouting! There's nothing we can do, I'm just the messenger and it's what he wants. So we are going to forget about it tonight and instead we are going to watch a bunch of horror movies then fall asleep to Pretty Woman." I told her trying to shift the mood.

She looked over at me and a smile formed, "Fine! But we will talk about this tomorrow."

"Oh we have to because were telling the boys before Monday when we see Shawn again. This is gonna be good Lauren if I, the girl he was barley dating before the crash and had no memory of, is okay with it I think you should be too." I assured her.

She shook her head as she put on the first movie, "I honestly don't know how you just accepted it. Don't you want him back?"

"Of course, but I'm not gonna force him to like me because of my word. I want him to do it because he actually likes me. Just like he liked me the first time and if not then I guess it wasn't meant to be." I shrugged as I grabbed the bowl of popcorn.

"If he doesn't fall for you all over again then love is dead to me." She said in a serious tone which made it funny to me.

But deep down, I guess I thought the same thing.
