Chosen Ones

Chapter 1

It was Monday morning... The awful Monday, and to top everything off it was my first day of senior year. I got out of bed and headed to my bathroom.

After I was done in there I went to see if my sisters were ready. My youngest sister Laneena was sitting on the couch going threw her book bag and making sure she had all her supplies.

"Are you nervous?" I said sitting next to her and chuckling.

"Umm yes. Did you forget this is my first year in highschool? I'm FRESH MEAT" she said the nervousness visible. I assured her that highschool was awful but not something to get to worked up about.

"Anyway where's Brianna?" I said remembering i needed to call our friend Carter to come and pick us up. Last night i forgot to put gas in my car, and I don't feel like running out of gas on my way to school and having to walk.

"She's doing her makeup... Your gonna take me to my first period class today right?!"

"Yea! But only for today, your going to have to learn the way around the school by yourself at some point." I told her, pulling out my phone and calling Carter. I walked out the living room to get away from Laneena's rambling.

"Selena! What's up Bae?!" Carters voice boomed threw the phone with excitement.

"Carter Reynolds why the fuck are you so loud. Damn its six in the morning!"

"Trying to stay awake! And that's Mr. Carter to you"

"Yea okay, Can you pick us up at seven?"

"Hmmm, you know i could but like that's Sooooo much work....Just kidding yea sure. But be ready I want to be early for my first class."

"Okay thanks Reynolds" I heard him scowl and hang up.

"Brianna!!! Are you ready?! Carter's going to be here any minute." I yelled upstairs. "Do you know its your first day of Senior year too"

"Yes Selena I know!! I'm coming!" She yelled running down the stairs. She grabbed her book bag from off the kitchen counter and walked out the door. Laneena got off the couch....painfully slow.

" You know I don't feel so good." She said grabbing her stomach and making gagging noises.

" Nice try kid, now go get in the car."

"Dang it, well it was worth a try"

We pulled up to the school at 7:15. Classes didn't start until 7:45 but I was going to take Laneena early so she wouldn't freak out about being late. " All these damn freshmen" Carter said pointing out all the kids running around acting like they belonged back in sixth grade. We walked in the front door and I seen my old English teacher Ms. Peters, I wanted to avoid her. She absolutely hated me, junior year she almost failed me, even though I did all my work. I tried to walk past her but she saw us. " Oh look Miss. Pabon and Mr. Reynolds funny running into you guys" She said with a wicked smirk.

"How is that funny? You were going to run into us anyway...It's school." Carter said basically trying to be a smart ass. Carter was the kind of guy that thought just because he was a senior he was superior. She shot him a death glare and looked down at my little sister. "And who's this"

"My sister. I was on my way to take her to her first class...Before you interrupted." I said feeling cocky like Carter now. She toke Laneena's roster out of her hand and read it. " Oh well look here your in my first period class, and I'm heading over there right now. You'll be the first one there." I looked down at Laneena, who didn't really seem to care as long as she got to class.

It was now forth period and I had lunch, but the school lunch sucked ass. So Me, Brianna, Carter and our other friends Taylor and Aaron just walked around the school until forth period ended. We were walking down a hallway when I turned to look in the gym. I saw Laneena sitting on the bleachers paying no mind to what the teacher was talking about. I stepped in the doorway not trying to be seen by Coach Carl and waved my hands to try and get her attention. She must of been real zoned out because she didn't notice me. I really wanted to know how her first day was going so far.

"Hold on I got this" Taylor said. He walked in the gym casually. We hid behind the door not trying to make it noticeable.

"What do you want Mr. Caniff?" Coach Carl's voice boomed threw the gym.

"Uh nice seeing you again Coach, how was your day so far?" Taylor said trying to be nonchalant.

"It be better if you weren't in my gym Taylor." I looked around the gym and watched at how the freshmen girls drooled over Taylor being in there. "We'll damn i just want to see Laneena for a minute"

"Okay whatever. Laneena, you can step out, but be be back in five minutes. And Taylor its the first day back to school try not to take advantage of the freshmen girls."

Taylor looked at coach with a disgusted face and shook his head. "Laneena is my girlfriends little sister, that's just wrong." They both walked out of the gym room laughing. Taylor was always telling everybody that I was his girlfriend, but I really wasn't.

"So how's your first day of Highschool so far" Me and Brianna teased her. "Is there any boys you think are cute?" Brianna said laughing.

"No there actually all quite annoying, and ugly."

"This is just freshmen year, wait 2 more years, they will hit puberty and you'll regret not liking them."

It was the end of the day and Carter was driving us back home. When we walked in the front door our parents were in the kitchen having a deep conversation about what we were having for dinner. I closed the door and the questions came pouring in.

"How was you guys' first day back at school? Was it fun? Do you have a lot of homework? Are your teachers nice? Do you like any boys?" My mom asked fascinated with teenage years.

"It was fine. No it was not fun. School is never fun. They don't give homework out on the first day. Ew. Teachers are never nice, and No." Brianna said answering all moms questions.

"Oh well, that's good to hear... I guess." My dad said.

"Dad can you put gas in my car I'm gonna need it for tomorrow. I have a job interview" He nodded and for the rest of the night i prepared myself for the rest of this week....
