We sat in silence for what seemed to stretch on forever.
I'd been at my most vulnerable in front of Cameron twice now, why do I hate that so much?
I gripped the door handle so hard my knuckles started turning white.
This car is terrifying, I know he's going slower than he probably would.
Finally we came to a slow stop in front of my house.
I unbuckled myself.
"Thank you." I said and popped the door open.
"Hey" he said making me pause "I just want you to know, you can trust me."
I nodded awkwardly, "see you in a few hours."
I got out and waved at him as he pulled out.
I unlocked the door, John sat in his chair instead of facing the TV like it usually did; it faced the door, at me.
He sat shirtless, a beer in hand.
"What-?" He silenced me.
"Where were you?" He grumbled.
"Oh" I did a weird little laugh "it was the weirdest thing, I didn't even realize what time it was. So Cameron drove me home."
He got up he was standing inches in front of me.
"Don't you fucking lie to me."
"What?" I squeked.
"I KNOW YOU SLEPT WITH HIM YOU WHORE!" He roared.
John is at least four feet taller than me, and considerable stronger.
I attempted to step back, he grabbed my wrist crushing it.
"Ouch, Josh you're hurting me!"
He dropped his beer can grabbing my other wrist.
"YOU MEAN THIS!"
"Josh you're scaring me! Please let go!"
He thrusted me onto our grey sofa.
"What are you doing?" I gasped.
He started unbuckling his pants.
"AM I NOT GOOD ENOUGH?" He yelled.
"Josh please! You're drunk!" Tears streaked my face.
He took off his pants and started advancing.
I sobbed attempting to crawl off the couch.
He grabbed my hair and wripped me back.
I screamed, he pulled down my skirt.
"Josh!" I screeched.
After he had finished with me. He stood up buckled his pants and lit a cigarette.
I laid on the couch pantless sobbing.
He laughed "calm down babe" he went outside.
My entire body quivered.
I hastily stood, pulled up my skirt.
My entire body shook.
I went to the bathroom.
"Ocavia?" Josh called.
"In the bathroom!" I yelled back opening the window.
I stood up on the counter, pushing out the screen, and jumping out the window.
Once I got out the window, I ran.
Not caring of my lack of shoes.
I ran down the city street broken glass bit at my feet.
I ran not sure where I was going, until I was in front of Cameron's house.
I had been here countless times, running arrons.
I stood out front debating what I should do.
I took a deep breath and walked forward knocking on the door.
He's probably asleep I told myself after he hadnt answered.
I started walking back down the driveway.
"Octavia?" I turned around Cameron stood in the door way, he wore a black house robe.
His usual combed black hair was standing in every direction.
I swollowed this was a bad idea.
My body trembled again, my legs no longer wanted to work.
I stood halfway down the driveway trembling.
"Octavia what's going on?" I collapsed.
Cameron rushed out of the doorway, I was sobbing a pathetic gut wrenching sob.
My shoulders hunched over, I barely felt it when Cameron picked me up and brought me inside.
He didn't ask me anymore questions until I had calmed down, he made coffee which I gladly took. We sat on his couch, overlooking the city in silence.
"Octavia" his voice was gentle "What happened to you?" I shook my head.
My body wouldn't cry anymore, a small tremmer went through me.
"Its okay" I looked over at him "you can tell me" he pleaded.
"J-Josh" I chocked, my voice was shaking, and rough.
I took a long sip on coffee.
"Josh; your fiance did this?" He asked.
I nodded.
"Did he-?" I nodded before he finished the sentence.
My white shirt was torn my skirt bloody.
"C-can I take a shower?" I asked.
"Yes of course." I stood Cameron sat my coffee down.
He led me to his shower which laid out in his room.
It was a very advanced machine, nicest house I'd ever seen.
After Cameron left, closing the door I started the water.
I started to undress, I looked at myself in the mirror.
My hair was frizzy standing up in unusual directions.
I had dirt snugged on my face, tears had streaked mascara down my face.
I looked down at my engagement ring.
Maybe he didn't mean it.
I mean he was drunk.
He's never done this before.
I shook my head no.
I took off the ring and set it on the counter.
I stepped in the shower, blood ran down the drain.
I rinced my hair, scrubbed my face until it hurt.
I ran my hands over my skin harshly an attempt to rub him off of me.
After I had rubbed myself raw I sat down on the tile floor.
I sat there until the water ran cold.
I let out a shakey breath stood up, and turned off the water.
I tightly wrapped a towel around myself.
I stepped out of the bathroom, a shirt and boxers sat in front of the door.
I took them, and changed.
The shirt smelled like Cameron's cologne.
I smiled a little and stepped out.
I came out to the kitchen, Cameron stood he was making food.
He saw me and smiled.
After we had finished eating eggs and toast he cleared his throat.
"There's no need for you to come to work today." I tucked my hair behind my ears.
"No I'd rather come in." He didn't argue the point.
"Are" seemed like he'd been waiting to ask this question "Are you going to the police?" I sighed.
"No" I said avoiding eye contact.
"You don't want him to pay for what he did to you?" He asked, I know he wasn't meaning for it to come out so harsh.
"I don't know" I said putting my hand in to my forehead rubbing it.
Cameron's eyes shot to the bruises on my wrist.
"Look as you know, I'm a lawyer. Now I don't usually do these kind of cases, but I can get him put away."
"Then what?" I snapped "he gets out in a few years, then I'll have to be even more terrified." A single tear ran down my face "he's going to come after me."
He pushed his lips together "I can protect you, you can go underground."
"Protective custody?" I laughed "no, no way" I said putting a cloth napkin on the table.
"Why?" He asked.
"Why?" I laughed "Why don't I want to go through years of court? Hmm I don't know, maybe because I just want to out this behind me!" I yelled standing up.
"Its never going to be behind you Octavia! Do you want to live your whole life looking over your shoulder?" He yelled, also standing.
"You don't understand!" I brushed my hair out of my face.
"I don't understand what?" His voice raised.
"I was attacked!" I screamed. "By the person I was supposed to spend my entire life with! I was supposed to have children with this man!" Angry tears ran down my face.
Cameron fell silent.
"I should go into work." He said and left to his room, slamming the door.
