Today's the day, the day I've been waiting for, for what it seems like forever. The day I finally get to leave this little town."Cariad!" My mum yelled at the top of her lungs, "You better be awake".
I guess you've got a few questions already, where are you going? Why do you want to leave so badly? Why is your name Cariad?
Well first of all I am leaving to go to Greece for a few months to travel and work out there, I desperately want to leave this place because as everyone says, it's full of bad memories. I'm originally from Wales, which brings me to my name, Cariad. It's a Welsh name which in English translates to darling.
Don't ask why my mother wanted to name me darling because I do not have the answer and even ask myself that daily.
My alarm started to ring and on came Cyndi Lauper so I did what every other girl would do, got up and started singing into my brush while dancing like a clown. You can probably tell how excited I am to leave for just a few months, to clear my head and create some new great memories.
Just as it came to the chorus I heard a faint laugh behind me, I froze and looked over my shoulder. There stood my mother and my best friend, Rosie. "Guys, have you ever heard of privacy?" I smirked. My mother giggled as she turned to walk away.
Rosie's face dropped from a smile to a frown as she collapsed onto my bed. "Oh Rosie not again, I thought you were happy for me?"
Her big brown eyes looked up at me, full of sadness. "Don't get me wrong I am so happy for you, I just wish I was able to come too" she replied as my pillow engulfed her head.
"Well.....who said you couldn't come out in a few weeks and visit?"
She sat up and took a few seconds to reply, "You know I can't Carrie, my mum is too ill to leave at the moment" I nodded sadly in agreement. "And with Noah going too I-" I raised my hand to her mouth.
"Uh wait a minute, where is Noah going?"
Let me just quickly tell you about Noah, he is Rosie's 'absolutely beautiful' older brother who I wish I could say I haven't had a crush on for the past 7 years but you could probably tell I would be lying.
Rosie raised her eyebrows, "Didn't I tell you?" to which I shook my head.
"Noah is also going to greece" she said as my heart dropped.
Noah is one of the reasons I'm leaving, it would break Rosie's heart if I told her how I felt about him and I just can't sit around watching him with a different girl every week.
I took a few moments to think of my reply, "Any idea where about he is going?"
Her eyes moved away from mine as she was trying to think, "To be honest I have no idea"
Good, that's good I suppose. I mean there's no way that he could be coming on the same course as me, there was hardly any spaces left when I applied.
"Cariad, come on its time to leave" my mum yelled up the stairs.
I immediately got up and raced to find clothes to chuck on, I threw my long red hair in a half up half down style and turned to Rosie, "Ready" I giggled.
She replied with a laugh, "How will I survive without you??"
"Well you're lucky its only for a few months otherwise you wouldn't" I smiled then suddenly I was engulfed in a hug.
We stood there for a few moments just hugging, birds chirping filled the background. We both jumped to my mum screaming my name once again, "Don't make me come up there!"
Rosie looked at me and giggled, "I think we better listen to her" I nodded in reply as I grabbed my case and made my way to the front door.
As I reached the bottom step there stood my mother with her arms folded and a stern look on her face. I gave her the biggest smile possible, "Breakfast?..." I nervously asked. She then threw a cereal bar at me before answering.
"I ate the pancakes, you would have missed your plane" She giggled as she made her way to the car.
The car journey to the airport was like a mini Destiny's Child concert, with me obviously being Queen B even though my mother was argumentative it was her. I kind of wished it would have lasted a little longer though, I'm actually feeling really emotional leaving my mum and Rosie but I have to do this, I need to start living my life.
Once I checked myself in to the airport I said my goodbyes to both my mum and Rosie, my Kelly and my Michelle. They both just told me to be safe around 10 times, watch my drink around 50 times and to contact them 24/7 around 100 times.
They waved at me until I was out of their sight, it's crazy how fast this year has gone. I just wish my dad was still around to see that I'm following through with this, you're probably wondering where he is but I'll tell you that soon.
Its now 12pm and I'm finally in my seat with a gin and tonic, staring at the sun that's blinding me through the small plane window. My ears filled with music as I put my earphones in, blocking out the sound of everyone else around me. I'm finally on my way.
I was rudely interrupted by someone pulling my headphone out, I opened my eyes but the sun was glaring straight in my eyes. "Hey what the hell" I yelled as I moved my head out of the suns reach to see who this rude person was. My face instantly dropped as I saw the 6ft person that stood toppling over me.
"Hello pumpkin, this is my seat"
