        One afternoon, there were two community (street) educators who conducted classes nearby the bridge along Pres. Quirino Avenue. Richard got interested to join and participated in visual arts. He was then invited by one of the educators named “Kuya Domeng” to participate in a contest being held by a Non-Government Organization named Integrated Social Services Enhancement Center (ISSEC) founded by Miss Teresita Silva. Richard eventually won the on-the-spot poster making contest as the 1st Place. With the coordination of his mother to the NGO, Richard became a scholar (sponsorship) from 1st year until he finished secondary level.

        Richard’s parents able to attend one of marriage encounter seminars, and eventually, his parents renew their marital vow in a mass wedding initiated by the organization. One of their sponsors was Mrs. Lourdes Briones, who gave Richard the opportunity to pursue college education in Polytechnic University of the Philippines located in Sta. Mesa, Manila. He studied Bachelor in Business Education. Mrs. Briones provided for the tuition fees and other miscellaneous while he gave his time helping doing errands for Stop Trafficking of Pilipinos, Inc. (STOP).
