Monika decided to stick with Sayori after the two of them separated.

She desperately wished she could talk to her again, at least for a little bit, but Sayori couldn't see or hear her, and she couldn't do anything.

She could only sigh and watch as Sayori wrote her poem, did her homework, and just continued with her life.

"... I wish you could see me, little sister.  I wish you knew I'm right here for you."

But Sayori didn't respond...

...not that Monika expected her to, of course.

Sayori stared at her list of contacts on her phone.  She scrolled to where Monika's name, number, and other contact information were.

Nothing.

Not even an initial.

"I miss you...big sister..." Sayori said quietly, hugging the phone to her chest as if it were her only memory of her beloved friend.  "I miss you... I forgive you... I wish you were here..."

"But I AM here!" Monika pleaded, tears streaming down her face.  "I'm right here, little sister.  I'm right here.  I'm here for you."

Sayori just sighed and sat on her bed, hugging one of her stuffed animals.  She could feel what was left of her depression kicking in.

She felt sad.

She felt alone.

She felt the rainclouds coming back.

She quickly shook it off.  She refused to feel depressed anymore.  She needed to be happy.

Monika managed to move over and sit on the bed next to Sayori.

Things were awkwardly quiet, so she decided to pretend she could be heard and spoke.

"MC really DIDN'T joke about your messy room, did he?"

Sayori gave a quiet sigh immediately after, almost as if responding to the question.

"...I should clean my room every now and then. MC never comes over to help anymore."

"I didn't mean it like that!"

"I wonder what he's doing."

"I bet he's thinking about you."

"He's probably thinking about other girls."

"Don't say that! You'll get yourself depressed again."

"... I should stop focusing on that before the rainclouds come back."

Monika stared at Sayori for a moment. It almost seemed like they had an actual conversation for a moment there.

"Can you hear me?" she asked, just to be sure.

... no response.

"Can you hear me?" Monika repeated the question slower.

Still nothing.

She sighed. "Guess not."

She interanlly scolded herself for getting her hopes up.

Her attention was drawn back to Sayori as a small yawn escaped her.

"You should rest, little sister."

"... I'm not ready to go to bed yet."

"But you're clearly tired!"

Sayori just stared out her window.  Sure enough, the sun was already setting.

She should at least change into her pj's first...

Monika closed her eyes and looked away as Sayori got changed and finished getting ready for bed.  ... that was something she didn't need to see...

Finally, she was ready and climbed into bed, pulling the covers over her.  She wiped tears from her eyes and sighed.

"... I still wish you were here, big sister."

And with that, she drifted to sleep.

Monika just looked at her, tears streaming down her face once more.  It was her turn to feel the rainclouds come.  It was her turn to let them rain on her.  It was her turn to feel depressed.

She hated it.

Is this really how she made Sayori feel?

Guilt flooded over her again as she watched her "little sister" sleep peacefully.  She wondered what she was dreaming about and hoped she wasn't having a nightmare.

A nightmare like the ones she gave to her.

A nightmare like the ones she'd be giving herself right now, if she were asleep.

Nightmares about suicide.  Nightmares about being unloved.

Nightmares about rainclouds.
