The sound of groaning was heard from behind me as i turned and gripped my knife handle that was laying on my right side. I could hear movement in the bed, as the man sat up, staring at my backside with wide eyes, holding the back of his head in pain.

"How long was I out?", he asked, his voice seemed so soft and kind, i almost wanted to trust him but i quickly stopped myself.

"Only about an hour. Glenn, right?", I answered back.

"Yeah, who are you?", he said with another groan as he continued to rub his head.

I wanted to apologize but if i hadn't done it, if i hadn't knocked him out, he probably would have left me here alone." Can I trust you, Glenn?", i asked with a small voice. He was silent for a second, so I slowly turned my entire body to face him as we made eye contact.

"Yes-", he said.

"Why?", I asked as he flinched at my interruption.

"I promise I'm not a bad person. I mean i was only a pizza boy before all of this.", he said with a shrug.

"You could be lying", I said as my voice shook. I had trusted so many people before the apocalypse even started and each time i was broken in half by the end. I was not taking any chances.

"I'm not", he said harshly,"Look I have a group, they're all good people, they're all my friends and i need to be getting back to them."

I felt a pang of sadness knowing that i couldn't just keep him here forever when i suddenly heard a crying from below the room. I quickly stood up as and held my knife to Glenn in a threatening pose.

"Stand up", I said.

He seemed shocked as i repeated myself, only louder and more harshly, he instantly hopped out of the comfortable bed, messing up the beige blanket. His clothing was slightly dirty, as he was wearing a white long sleeved shirt with black jeans and boots, but it wasn't that noticeable in the dimly lit room. All of the rooms were like that, dark, if not the walkers would find us all so i covered all the windows, only hoping that it would work. I used to be afraid of the dark but now i cherish it.

"Come with me", I said as the crying grew louder.

I stepped behind him as i led him to the door. He opened it swiftly and stepped through. I grabbed him by the shoulder and turned him to the left towards the basement door that was only through the kitchen, and around the corner.

I could see him eyeing his gun as we drew near, as if he had plans to do something with it, i knew i was stupid for leaving it on the counter."Please don't", I whispered quietly only for him to hear. He seemed to stiffen a bit before relaxing and walking past the gun altogether. As we got to the basement door i heard a banging behind me, i turned to see a shadow behind the curtain of the back doors window and a loud growling noise.

"Shit, hurry up!", i said in a whisper yell as my hands shook, that often happened alot but i usually just ignored it and tried to be strong even if i'm just pretending slightly. He quickly opened the door and slipped inside as i did the same, i could hear him walking down the wooden stairs, every step making a loud creaking noise, as i stepped inside and closed the door locking it behind me, hoping the walker would go away due to its short attention span.

I ran down the stairs, entering the first room of the basement which had the couch i often sleep on along with a night stand and a few other items that were now useless without electricity, there was also another kitchen down there and a bathroom that had water in the tub and sink that had been used over and over again, and a back room straight ahead that had a closed white door. The only noise behind it was the soft cries of a mysterious figure.
