Chapter nine: Fireflies in the moonlight.
It was pouring by the time we got back to Lou’s place, we trudged up the pathway, leaving prints in the mud, kicking off our shoes on the front step before walking into a nice warm home, with a fire going. We were greeted by Fizz hugging us at the door, asking us if we had fun. Which we of course did, and Lou walked into the kitchen, grabbed the basket and walked out, dragging me along with him. Going back inside to grab a rug and a few blankets.
“Where are we going it’s pouring!”
“I know the perfect place.”
We arrived at some beach, and I had to carry the blankets while he carried the basket and the rug, and he led me to a cave like overhang, which was completely dry. Lou set down the rug and picnic basket, and I plunking the blankets on the rug, checking my phone.
From: Mum
I hope you and Lou had a good time today sweet heart, are you coming home tonight? Or staying there again?
I’m loving this freedom, I guess if it was any other guy mum wouldn’t be so lenient, but she knows and trusts Lou, so I guess that’s why.
To: Mum
We did have fun! Thanks! Uh, I don’t know if I will be, I’ll text you what’s happening when I know.
Lou came back with some sticks and a big log.
“What are you doing?”
“Starting a fire, don’t want you to freeze to death. Gosh!”
“Don’t you need paper?”
“We have some of that tumbleweed stuff.”
Lou put the tumbleweed at the bottom and the twigs on top, pulling his lighter out of his coat pocket lighting the tumbleweed which caught alight immediately setting fire to the twigs as well, when the fire was fully cranking, he plunked the log on top and sat with me, at the back of the cave, with our backs against the wall, his arm around me holding me tight, our blankets covering us. I opened up the picnic basket and found some nice sandwiches, with chicken lettuce and mayonnaise, which is our favourite! Lou and I always used to give one half to the other when we had it for lunch, because if we didn’t then we wouldn’t get the others next time. There was also some hot chocolate one of those things that keeps soup warm, I can’t remember what it’s called, along with some donuts, with strawberry icing, our favourite.
We inhaled the sandwiches and some hot chocolate, cuddling into Lou with my head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat, talking about how saying “What do you want to do when you’re older?” doesn’t really make sense anymore, because we are older, and well, we still have no clue, Lou says he wants to be a drama teacher, or a singer. I however want to become an author, writing stories about mystery. The only thing that kept me from falling asleep was Lou talking to me, his voice was so calming, and funny at the same time.
He grabbed a donut from the basket and held it in front of my mouth so I took a bite and it was so good, apart from the blisters this day has been pretty amazing. We sat watching the waves for a little bit with the blankets covering our legs, it was pretty choppy, nothing to surf here. Nothing to surf anywhere in England. Finally the rain stopped and the sky started clearing, and Lou and I came out of the cave and lay down on our rug, looking at the stars in the sky, which you don’t see very often in England.
Next thing we knew there were hundreds of firefly’s flying around us in the night sky, I could hear nothing but the sound of the waves, and the beat of Lou’s heart, I could smell the salty water, and pretty much taste it too, with the sand between my toes, and fingers, raking the sand, writing “Yes” in the sand.
“What’s that yes for?” He asked me confused.
“I do love you.” He rolled over on top of me, kissing me, his full weight resting on my body, with his hands playing with my hair. “Do you know how to braid?”
“Of course, my sisters taught me so I could do it on them!”
“Please?”
“Anything for you, my beautiful girl.” I loved the feeling when someone else played with my hair, or did my hair.
“Want to sleep over my house tonight?” I asked, I didn’t want to leave Lou for one second! This was too good to be true, and he has work tomorrow so I want to spend all the time I can with him.
“Of course!” He said tying up the end with my hair tie, and flinging it over my left shoulder. He did a pretty good job, I must say. We packed up the camp site, place, and chucked sand on the fire, putting it out.
When we finally got back to my place mum asked “Is Lou staying the night?”
“Yep.”
“Don’t get up to any trouble!” she laughed, but I knew she was serious.
Lou quickly drove back to his place putting all the stuff back and cleaning it up, so I decided to have a quick shower and jumping into my nice warm trackies I put in front of the heater before getting into the shower. I towel dried my hair and raked my fingers through my hair before Lou was at my door. He just welcomed himself in, plunking himself on my bed, and turning on my laptop to check facebook.

Lou opened up my inboxes, one from Beth asking to hang out tomorrow, good, I will be busy tomorrow then, I replied, “Sure, meet me at mine at 12?”
“Done.”
Awesome, tomorrow’s out of the way. The other two were from perverted guys saying that I was too good for Lou. I just replied with, go f%#@ a cactus. And logged off.
“Do you think you’re too good for me?”
“Never, you’re perfect.”
“You’re beautiful.” He looked me deep in the eyes, tucking my hair behind my ear, kissing me, before stripping down to his underwear and jumping into bed, switching on my TV. I fell asleep cuddling up to Lou, counting his heart beats, and the sound of him singing a song to me, stroking my hair, and kissing my forehead.
