Adelaide
The rain has always caught my attention. The way they fall so freely from the sky, and then land with a thud on the ground here down on earth. The sun absorbs it after it sinks into the soil, and then the process starts right over again. I know the feeling of falling from the sky; I’ve experienced it, literally. I am half angel, half god. The most people know me as the half angel who lives in a house full of werewolves, well, except the humans. My mother, an angel whose heart was pure as gold and me was kicked out of heaven when the angel council got to know about me. My father was for some reason not punished AT ALL. Sucks to be me. But being kicked out of heaven have it’s pro’s! I can dress how I want to, I can be who I want to be, and as long as the humans don’t see me, I can fly how much I’d like! Yes, I may be half angel, but I still have my wings. Whatever, back to now.
It was raining outside, and I’m sitting in my window, just staring into the distance. The raindrops are all unique in their own way, but still work together. They fall down, absorbs, and is born again. Nothing change. Everything always works the same. Year after year, decade after decade. Falling. I wish sometimes my life were as easy as the rain is. But no. I can’t show who I really am, but I don’t want people talking behind my back about me. They think I am a weak half angel. If they only knew… If they only knew I could kill them in a matter of seconds. Poor dogs.
“Adelaide, could you come down here darling?” my mom called. She’s only my adoptive mother, but I feel like she’s my mother.
“Coming mom!”
I ran down the 3 stairs that would take me from my room to the living room.
“Yes mom? What did you want to talk about?”
“Um, I know you don’t want to celebrate, but Clarkton and his family really want to take you out on dinner tonight to celebrate your 17th birthday. Is that okay for you?” she said nervously.
I smiled slightly. “Of course, it would be lovely! But what am I supposed to wear?”
“Okay, that’s okay I’ll just- wait what? You wanna go?”
“Yes, I need to stop pity myself, and I need to get out of here.”
“Oh that’s amazing! Come, I’ll help you find something to wear!” She smiled widely and dragged me up the stairs. When we got in to my room she told me to sit on the bed while she searched through my wardrobe.
“This one?” she held up a blue dress with stripes on it.
“Nah, to cute.” I shock my head.
“This one?”
“Nope.”
We kept on doing this for ten dresses before she found the perfect one.
“How about this one?”
“It’s perfect!” The dress was black, and with a band at the waist with fake diamonds. It was short in the front, it ended just above the knees, and on the back it went down to the ground.
“That’s awesome, because that was the last dress you had in your wardrobe…” mom said.
“Wow, but now I have to shower! Are they going to pick me up? And in that case, when?”
“They will pick you up at 6.30 pm.” She smiled.
“Wait, that’s in like an hour!” I said stressed.
“Well then, hurry up! We need to do your hair and make-up! Off you go!”
I ran into the bathroom with the dress and clean underwear in my hands, stripped off my clothes, and jumped into the shower. I turned on the shower, put shampoo in my hair, shaved my legs, and when the shampoo was out of my hair, I took conditioner and soap. When I was done, I jumped out of the shower and got dressed after I dried myself.
