Prologue - (Excerpt) The Middle.
The cafeteria was silent. So silent that if you tried hard enough you could almost hear people breathing.
The silence was deafening her ears as she stood there looking down at her feet. Her tears threatening to come out.
'Don't you dare cry' she kept telling herself. 'Don't. Not here. Not in front of all these people.'
Everybody in the room had left their food and conversation and instead stared at them. Everybody shocked.
He looked so mad. But then he looked so mad because he was. And he'd never ever been this angry in his life.
He needed a while to calm down so he could speak.
After what seemed like an eternity, he finally spoke.
"If anybody touches her," his voice dangerously soft but loud enough for people to hear, "I will kill you," he finished.
He then grabbed her hand and walked out of the cafeteria leaving everybody glued to their spots, terrified.
As he walked through the cafeteria he realised why he'd lost his precious control and why he'd been so angry. It was pretty simple;
He was falling in love with her.
