Song of the Chapter: Time Machine, State Champs

Tony walked into Eva's room and gently shook her awake. She lifted her head from the pillow and glared at whoever was waking her up. "Sorry kid," he laughed, "but we gotta head to the airport. Pack everything else up and I'll carry you downstairs. Deal?" Eva happily nodded as she packed her phone, camera, and laptop along with the cords and chargers. She also grabbed her clothes for the day and changed in the bathroom. It was maroon-color leggings with pockets, a tie-dye tank top, and a cardigan draped on top. She check the bathroom again for anything she might have forgotten. Her eyes fell upon a blade that she had hidden really well. Eva was trying to move past these thoughts and this part of her life again, but just the shine of the metal in the light calmed her down. Eva sat carefully on the edge of the tub with it in her hand. She started tearing up and contemplating all the bad things in her head. She wasn't going to bring any to tour, but then she found one of her last ones. Eva pushed it carefully into her phone case and tried to look like she wasn't crying. She'd have to sneak it into her bag, but she could do that at the airport easily.

She walked out of her room and saw Tony sitting on her bed waiting. He looked at her questioningly. "Why are you crying?" he asked softly. "What? I'm not," she said in the most unconvincing way. Tony just looked at her knowingly. She shook her head as more tears fell. 'Just stop crying for once.' Eva played with the sleeves of her cardigan and pulled them over her fists, something she did whenever this topic came up. Tony sighed and pulled her up onto the bed before rolling the sleeves up and checking everything. "I didn't do it Tone, but I found one." Eva pulled it from her phone case and slid it into his hand. "I was debating on taking it. I don't think I'm ready to stop it all again. That was the hardest 10 months of my life and I don't want to go back to it."

Tony carefully put the blade in his pocket the get rid of later and rubbed Eva's back. "It'll be hard, but when you get it out of your life, you'll never regret it. You don't need it, and you debating so much and giving it to me shows that, okay?" Eva nodded and hugged the guitar player before throwing her bag over her shoulders as she started making her way towards the door. Tony didn't hesitate to lift her up and place her on his back like he had promised. Eva laughed a little and wiped her face one last time so no one else knew what happened. "Are you going to tell anyone?" she asked Tony quietly before they reached the stairs. "I probably should, E" he sighed softly. "Tell Pete, okay? Only Pete. He knows how I almost relapsed a week ago. You two can keep checking me and making sure, okay? Just no one else. It'll kill Dad." Tony thought about it for a second before huffing out a breath and nodding. "Okay, E. It's a deal, but if it gets worse, we're telling someone." She nodded and squeezed his shoulders from her place on his back.

The two made their way down the stairs and out the front door where they met the rest of the bands and the vans that were taking them to the airport. When they all arrived at LAX, Eva was pulled into a tight hug from Sarah. She had already gone through so much on her first leg of tour and so much happened in the two weeks between them. Next was Theo, Alex, Sam, Jane, and Spencer who stood next to the mother and daughter smiling at them. Eva quickly hugged the three girls and promised to send them pictures and that they'd make it through the year without her there. She hugged Alex a little tighter and couldn't help but be happy that she didn't have to worry about something going wrong at his house anymore. "Stay cool, Alex. I'll be back before you know it." He smiled and kissed her head. He had become like a brother to her and they were both a little sad to say goodbye yet again, especially after all that happened at the end of the US leg.

Finally, Eva moved to Theo. "We've said goodbye way too many times for how long we've been together," he said, laughing lightly. Eva nodded and smiled before kissing him gently and hugging him. "We'll make it. We always have. I love you Theo." The boy smiled and kissed her forehead. "I know you're gonna make it out babe. I believe in you." She thanked him quietly and pulled away, grabbing Brendon's hand and her luggage as they walked into the airport and through security. Eventually they all sat down at a cafe, drinking coffee and eating breakfast while mumbling incoherent words. It was way too early. Eva ate oatmeal with fruit as she leaned against Tony and started drifting off. She felt more at peace then usual. "You doing okay?" Tony asked her while grinning. She nodded and smiled while shoveling another spoonful of food into her mouth.

Brendon watched Eva joke and laugh and eat with no worries. He loved seeing her happy and he just hoped it would stay. They all piled on the plane. Eva sat with Vic and Tone, talking about set lists and places they'd visit. The girl was excited to leave the country, she'd never gotten to before. As she started falling asleep again, Vic hummed quietly and softly. Eva drifted off with a smile on her face.
