Bruised and Beaten

“L-l-Leon, I’m fine. I need to h-h-help Vince,” I stuttered out and Leon shook his head. He took off his sleeveless shirt and gave it to me.

“Put that on your knee,” he said. I couldn’t think enough to object so I did as I was told. Leon pulled up in front of ‘Toretto’s’ and he turned to me. “Want help getting out?” Leon asked and I nodded. He went round the passenger side and opened the door. “Do you think you can stand at all Rora?” He asked and I silently shook my head, pressing the shirt harder against the cut. “Dom!” Leon shouted and I shook my head again.

“Please don’t get Dom,” I whispered but it was too late, he’d already walked out. He saw me, it only took a glance, before he ran over to us.

“Aurora, are you okay?” He asked. “Why are you covered in blood?!” He asked.

“I’m fine,” i said.

“Is it Hers?” Dom asked Leon. “Why is it on her face?”

“Her knee is bleeding, I guess she tried to stop it,” Leon said. “She’s likely to have a bruised cheek and possibly a bruised stomach,”

“Rory?” I heard someone ask. I looked up to see Jesse running out.

“I’m fine Jess,” I said and smiled weakly at him.

“Jesse, take her into Mia and help her clean her up,” Dom said. He pressed a kiss to my forehead and squeezed my hand reassuringly. He stepped out of the way and Jesse took my hand.

“Come on Rory,” he said. He put my arm around his shoulder, supporting me. He helped me through the front door and put me on the couch. “Mia! Can you bring some wet towels, dry towels, a towel of ice, bandages and disinfectant please!” Jesse yelled. He sat next to me and took my hands in his.

“I’m fine Jesse, really,” I reassured him and smiled, hating the pain in his eyes. Mia came in with all the stuff in her arms and quickly dropped them on the table before rushing over to me.

“Aurora?!” She exclaimed. She examined my face before looking at Jesse.

“You’d better do her stomach Mia,” Jesse said and picked up a wet towel. Mia nodded and got me to lie down across the couch, my head on Jesses lap. I looked up at Jesse as he carefully wiped my face. I hissed when Mia touched my stomach.

“Sorry Aurora,” I heard Mia say. I continued to stare up at Jesse who had a pained look on his face. I tried to keep a straight face but couldn’t help a wince every so often or let out a small hiss and every time I did, Jesse’s face became wrought in more and more pain for me. Once he had cleaned my face he gently held the ice to my bruised cheek.

“I’m okay Jesse,” I said, giving him a weak smile.

“I know your lying Rory,” Jesse said quietly. “Please don’t lie to me,” he said a little louder.

“Sorry Jess,” I said and he shrugged.

“It’s okay, I guess,” he said and took my hand. He held my hand as if it was him who needed comforting, not me.

“Hey Jesse,” I said. He looked me straight in the eye and I smiled at him. “Who was that Ella girl?” I said trying to distract him. He smiled softly and shook his head.

“No one. Your the only girl in my life Rora,” he said.

“Hey!” Mia protested and I grinned.

“Good to hear it,” I grinned.

“All done,” Mia announced after we’d been in silence for a while. “Want me to get Dom?” She asked and I shook my head.

“Take me to him,” I said and sat up. I grunted in pain and held my stomach. Jesse put a hand on my shoulder and I brushed it off. “I’m fine,” I said and stood. Mia and Jesse were immediately at my side, Jesse with an arm around me, helping me to stand and Mia standing by me.

Mia and Jesse had helped me all the way into the garden where Dom was working on a water feature I had built and Vince had accidentally broken.

“Dom,” I said weakly. He looked up and rushed over to me. He picked me up bridal style and nodded to Mia and Jesse who walked back inside the house. Dom carried me over to the outdoor loveseat we had. He sat down on it, placing me carefully on his lap. He pressed a kiss to my hair and I leant my head on his chest.

“What happened princess?” He asked, his words muffled slightly by my hair.

“My dad,” I said quietly. “I only wanted to lie down in the sun. I guess I just went out at the wrong time,” I said, almost in a whisper.

“Oh Ari,” he sighed and held me closer to his chest. I clutched onto his shirt and stuck my legs out across the empty seat, letting the warm sun ease up my aching legs. “My poor Ari. All bruised and beaten up,” he said.

“I swear, I didn’t even go looking for him this time,” I said and Dom pressed another kiss to my hair.

“I know Ari,” he said and rested his chin on my head before sighing. “I know,” he repeated. A comfortable silence took over the garden as I rested my head on Dom’s chest, slightly clutching his shirt. After about half an hour, I let out a loud yawn and Dom chuckled. “Tired Princess?” He asked and I nodded. Dom carefully lay down on his side. I then lay down too, burying my face into his chest.

“I love you Dominic,” I murmured and fell asleep but not before I heard Dom mumble,

“I love you too Aurora,”
