This book is dedicated to my year 6 English teacher- I hate you. Your advice made me determined to do the exact opposite of what you told me though: "you simply cannot write because you, Georgette, you lack a certain something that writers have." Yep, thanks, you have definitely shown me that.
Sienna Pennel and I were lucky that day. Lucky to be alive- that's what everyone said. I got a fractured wrist, and elbow and a banged up knee, and my best friend Sie got a fat little scar above her left eye, breaking her eyebrow into two reflective halves. Up one side, down the other. Happy, sad. Shock, awe. Before, after.
Before, all of us were lucky.
After, only me and Sie.
That's what everyone said.
