Flashback: Christmas Ball, Age 15

I hurried up the steps to the palace. It was the one night a year that it was open for military personel and their families to visit.

I was about to enter when the soldier stopped me.

"Sorry, you need an invitation to enter." He said.

I groaned, "Please, my family forgot me at home and I was coming, just a little late."

"Sorry, I can't let you in miss."

"Please, I'm with the Hughes family."

"Lieutent Smith, this young lady is my date." Roy said from behind the guy.

I scoffed, "No, my family is in-"

"Dani! Where have you been?! Gosh, are you stunning tonight. My girls look so alike!" Hughes exclaimed as he rushed over with Elicia in his arms.

I was wearing a creme backless, strapless, floorlength gown with silver heels along with my favorite amethist necklace. I had taken most of my peircings out in respect of tonight and even wore some make up.

I turned pink as he hugged me and brought me inside. I held onto my silver clutch tightly with my Automail which was partially covered by my long white gloves.

"Ooh, who's this?!" Havoc wooed.

I grinned, "Why hello, Jeany Weany."

He turned pale, "Dani? Um... Wow, you look gorgeous."

Furey came over with Breda and Fallman who each gaped. Breda even dropped his jaw.

"You- Who- Pretty- Look- You-" Furey gaped.

"Okay, one, you all know me. Two, I'm here with the Hughes family." I said quickly as soon as a few other younger officers looked me over.

"Hey Colonel, Fallman, Furey, Breda, Havoc." A guy said with golden blonde hair said then looked at me, "Um.. Who are you?"

I noticed he was a tiny bit shorter than me in heels, "Daniella."

He held out a hand, "Edward Elric, Fullmetal Alchemist."

I gasped, "Edward you jack ass. We need to catch up right now!"

He frowned as I gave Hughes my clutch and dragged Ed onto the dance floor. He placed a hand on my waist tentitively then followed my lead.

"Um, do I know you?"

"Daniella Howard, Dani? Remeber me?" I asked.

His eyes widened, "No way! You've grown a lot! Wait, how did you get Automail?"

"Oh," I looked down sadly, "my house burnt down and a beam took my arm. You know, Winry designed this and put it on for me. I went all the way to Risembool just for her."

"Gosh, remember when we were younger and how Al and I would fight?"

"You both fought over who would be my best man. Al won."

We danced for a few more songs before I began getting hungry. Ed had a frown etched onto his face as soon as I stopped dancing then began dragging him towards the tables, the one where I was sitting.

He froze when I gave him a tight hug, "I missed you so much, Ed. Alphonse too... I wish we never lost contact."

I had light tears in my eyes remembering that I was here only for the night and was headed back to Dublith to take care of my baby sister, Molly, right after.
