I finally arrived home after an exhausting six hour day of school.
"how was your first day Aurora?" mom walked into my room.
"it was tiring," I answered, while climbing into bed. "but on the bright side, i met a few new friends."
"well that's great then," she replied, "I would love to meet them sometime. Come downstairs when you're ready to eat"
"sure, thanks mom," I said as she left my room.
I opened the drawer next to me and took out my laptop and phone.
*zzzz* my cellphone went off continuously next to me.
I wonder who that could be?
I grabbed my phone and saw a new text message pop up on my screen.
It read:
so I kinda wanted to get to know you better, we are going to be best friends after all... i looked you up online and i think you should really take your contact details off your online profile, who knows what myserious good-looking guys will give you a call.
I was a bit two minded about who would send me a text or stalk my online profiles so I replied:
Alroy or Erasmus?
two minutes later I got a text back:
the one and only, Alroy Chadwick.
The conversation continued:
Alroy: So tell me about yourself?
Aurora: What would you like to know?
Alroy: Hobbies, interests, relationship status, anything that pops to mind..
Aurora: well... Im a single pringle waiting for the right jingle and soon I'll be ready to mingle.
Alroy: haha, so you've got a sense of humour after all.
Alroy: continue...
Aurora: I enjoy reading, I have a heavy obsession with boy bands and I'm a caffeine addict. Favorite colour is lime and I would like to become a paediatrician when I am older.
And you?
Alroy: Sports, purple and physiotherapist. To sum it up.
Aurora: cool
Alroy: Like the other side of a pillow
Aurora: haha
Alroy: you don't seem very enthusiastic..
Aurora: it wasn't a very funny joke…
Alroy: well you're right haha, how are you enjoying high school so far?
Aurora: it's ok
Alroy: why just 'ok'?
Aurora: I haven't made many nice friends, everyone's an ass.
Alroy: not me though, right?
Aurora: no, you're probably the nicest guy I've met aside from Erasmus.
Alroy: Well im glad :) see you tomorrow?
Aurora: Goodnight Alroy. :)
Alroy: Sweet dreams x
I beamed from ear to ear as i switched my mobile off. I never realised how late it had gotten until my conversation with Alroy ended. He's truly sweet; I am quite fond of him...not as in a dating possibility but rather as in a non-sexual entity, like a brother or as he would say, a "best friend."
Yes, I barely knew him, but it felt like i did.
To me he appeared as real, caring and I had a great feeling we were going to get along well.
ALROY'S POV
After my conversation with Aurora I did nothing but stare at my bedroom ceiling.
She wasnt like other girls. She seemed more different, independent and I liked that about her exclusive personality.
I wanted to get to know her, more likely become her friend and be someone who she could trust.
She wasn't anything like Tara either...Tara's wild, outgoing and impulsive at times. I love Tara, but she isn't the type of person i could open up to.
Aurora seemed like someone I couldn't simply let go…she couldn't just be an ornament in my life. My instincts told me that she was going to be important to me, even though at this point I hardly knew her.
I never concentrated on the concerns around me, like the fact that my parents are divorced and I'm living with my dad who is an alcoholic.
My mom didn't want anything to do with me or my dad, so she abandoned me with him.
I'm not one to feel emotion easily, I am a guy after all, but I'm not sure if I am secretly depressed, I mean, I'm not sad, but I'm not entirely happy either. I can laugh and joke and smile during the day, but sometimes when I'm all alone at night, I forget how I feel.
All in all, I certainly am not used to having somebody of the opposed gender being there for me, not even a mom.
I want Aurora to be the one I opened up to.
I want her to listen to my demons.
