After the duo had wolfed down some breakfast, they walked side by side to the training arena. During the high point of the camp season, it was impossible to get a free spot in the arena. However, seeing as almost everyone had gone home to visit families or go on quests, the whole camp was practically empty, including the arena. This only excited the girls more as they could practice new moves with all the space in the world.
"So what are we working on today? Blade work? Archery?" Piper asked once they got into the arena.
"I was thinking some hand-to-hand combat." Annabeth said smirking at Piper over her shoulder, knowing damn well that she was better in that area.
Well time to get my ass kicked. Hey, at least my ass will be kicked by a hot chick. It could be worse. Piper thought to herself as she stretched out. Once both girls were ready, they stepped into fighting stances, both hands up in fists, one leg in front of the other.
Annabeth had changed her style since the last time Piper saw her. Instead of keeping her top half stiff and rigid, she allowed her arms to relax a bit, hovering at her solar plexus. She kept shifting her weight from her front to back foot, never standing still, like Piper was. The two shuffled around each other waiting for the other to make a move. Annabeth went first, starting with a roundhouse kick that would've knocked the wind out of Piper if she hadn't moved back in time. The assault didn't stop there, though. Annabeth played offense, throwing kicks, punches and even tried to sweep Piper off of her feet, while Piper spent the whole time defending herself from the vicious onslaught.
"You gonna make a move McLean?" laughed Annabeth, a dangerous gleam in her eye.
Taking a moment to decide how to proceed, Piper finally swung her back arm in a deadly hook punch that would've K.Oed anyone in its path.
She instantly regretted that choice.
Annabeth used her front arm to block her punch without hesitation. Sliding her back arm across Piper's shoulder blades and grabbing the wrist of the arm she was blocking, Annabeth had Piper practically bent over and unable to do anything. Taking her back leg, Annabeth twisted and in one swift, easy movement, swept Piper's legs out from under her. Piper's back slammed on the hard concrete. Before she knew it, both of her arms were pinned above her head and Annabeth was straddling her waist, her face inches above Piper's.
"I win."

It was impossible for Piper to hid the blush that spread across her cheeks. Annabeth's cherry-red lips were hovering just inches above her own and the look in her grey eyes sent a pang through her stomach and between her legs, which only made her blush darker."H-how did you d-do that?" Piper asked, stuttering over her words. Annabeth smiled down at her friend and released her wrists. She sat up straighter, but didn't make any move to get off of her friend.
"It's actually pretty simple, would you like me to show you?" Annabeth asked, not realizing that her hands were laying on a part of Piper's belly that was exposed, sending a second pang through her body.
"S-sure." Piper stuttered again, unable to form a complete sentence. After a few moments of Annabeth not moving, Piper chuckled.
"Annabeth?"
"Hm?"
"You're still on top of me."
"Oh jeez I'm sorry!" Exclaimed Annabeth a blush becoming present across her face.
She looks so cute like that doesn't she Piper? Her inner thoughts taunted her. Oh shut up inner me!
After a half hour of Annabeth teaching Piper the moves and Piper practicing, the two finally decided to call it quits. Sweaty from their training Piper decided to go back to her cabin and shower, while Annabeth went back to her cabin to read and catch up on some homework.
