I walk through the bare forest, stepping on leaves that fell down, making crunching noises under my weight. A little girl probably 6 or 7 follows me, she follows me everyday; she thinks I don't see her but I do, but I play her game. She has tan skin and the most golden blonde hair, almost like gold which is always put into the most complicated "braid" I've ever seen. She always wears a black dress and always carries a black pouch, I've seen her open it once, but close it quickly. I'm curious.
Today is a very windy and chilly day, I'm wearing my white T-shirt which isn't really white anymore from all the things I do outside, with brown, green, and red stains. I'm wearing a brown skort, black combat boots, and my red hair is into a high-side ponytail. I look behind me trying not to look into the eyes of the little girl but she is way behind, having a tough time catching up to me.
SWISH
A small sword goes past my left ear, barely missing it, the mini sword goes into the tree near me. I start running back as fast as can to my hiding.
SWISH
Another small sword goes past me, missing again but goes into the log that I jumped over. I keep running not looking back, I don't see the little girl anywhere in site, she probably went into hiding too, and for the better.
SWISH
A blade goes past my left leg leaving a scratch, that was close, I better get into hiding soon or I'll be dead.
I fall down a steep hill, rolling, rolling down, I fall into the small creek getting muddy, wet and getting some scratches and a bruise. I get up and start running again, not looking back.
SWISH SWISH SWISH
3 blades come to me barely hitting me but one goes through my right arm, giving me lots of pain I start tearing up but try not to make a sound as I dash to my hiding. I fall through the hole to my hiding closing it while I fall, blood gushing and lots of pain in my right arm, but I still don't make a sound.
"You're late!", Kara whispers shouts at me. "You could have been killed! And now look at you! Here let me see your arm. Ouch that has to hurt, but serves you right". Kara my friend who may act tough and rude, actually has the kindest heart, she has brown hair, very dull brown eyes too. We both share our hiding spot, though it can get cramped it's still comfy.
"OUCH!", I cry out, Kara pulled out the small sword from my right arm which is bleeding more. They have bandages, cloths, ointments, medicine in a box, and a small tub and faucet to put hot or cold water into. Kara puts my arm into warm water then takes it out drying it with a big towel, she puts ointment and wraps a bandage around my right arm where I got the stab.
"All done. They will call us when the coast is clear and we can go into the main hiding, okay?", Kara says.
"Ok", I reply, bored out of my mind I take a nap until Kara shakes me to wake me up. We have to be quick we run as quick as possible to the main hiding spot, where everyone goes. It's about an hour away if you walk but when you run it probably will be quicker. I still feel pain in my right arm, but I stay quiet and close to Kara.
We finally come into the main hiding, under ground, I feel the warmth and smells of food. Kara and I go into our rooms, our rooms our small, with the height of the room being 6-7 feet tall and the width of the room being 5 feet and the length 6 feet. With a pillow and blanket a small box of our clothes and one small mirror and caller. They call us for our meal which we get once a day, the large room is big enough to hold all of us, which is about 50 people now, maybe. There were originally 200 people exactly, but we have been killed for the past 3 years. I'm even lucky to still be alive.
Dinner is served with a piece of meat, a potato, one piece of rye bread and a cup of hot water. Once we are done, all of us have to go to the wash room where all of us get cleaned, we have to be quick, I wash up quickly and got to my room. I'm tired, and my right arm is killing me, I put on my sleep gown, my sleep shoes and I go to the infirmary, the people there are surprised to me since the last time I've been here was in the first year when I broke my neck, I tell them about my right arm, they wash it up, dry it, put ointment, and wrap a better bandage and send me off and tell me to come to them tomorrow morning, early then the rest.
I start walking to my room when I hear a hushed voices talking.
"They want her dead! Without her we will all be safer, she's a monster!"
"Now look, she ain't no monster, but we can't kill her yet, she could be some use to us."
"Well I want her dead!"
Another voice speaks up.
"I agree, she is a monster if we kill her then they probably could help us and stop killing us."
"Maybe, or maybe not, who knows maybe if we kill her they will have a better advantage of killing us all, think about it. Good night."
I quickly and quietly run to my room, making no sound when I close the small door. Who were they talking about? And who is this girl they want dead, or alive?
