When Tsuna was ten, he wondered, "how heavy is mama's love for me?"
He got his answer on one silent evening.
It was school day and Tsuna was in his class, fidgeting in his seat.
Today was the day when they will get their test result and Tsuna was really nervous.
He tried his hardest studying for it and did his best during the exams. He was determined to pass this test and make his mother proud!
"Sawada Tsunayoshi."
When his name was called, he nervously made his way towards the teacher.
With a smile that he's already used to seeing, he felt his heart drop when he took the paper.
"25%. I'm sorry, Sawada-kun. Work harder next time, okay?" the teacher said.
He wanted to scream! He wanted to tell them as loud as he can that he did! He worked harder! He tried his hardest! But all he can do was mutely accept the paper, mumble a thank you and went back to his seat.
When he got back home, he dropped his bag to the floor, climbed the sofa, curled up into a tight ball, and silently cried.
When he felt that familiar warm hands wrapping itself around him, he wanted to resist, to distance himself from his mother.
To fail the test for the second time! His mom would hate him now! His clumsiness and stupidity is going to make her hate him even more! He knows she doesn't love him anymore! No one does!
"Tsu-kun."
Tsuna didn't respond, ignoring her calls.
"Tsu-kun."
She tried again. When he didn't respond, she lifted him up and settled him on her lap.
"Tsu-kun."
Her soft voice called out again and this time, Tsuna looked at her, tears and snot trailing down. But no sound, not even a whimper could be heard. He had already gotten used to crying in silence.
"Tsu-kun, mama always loves you. Mama will always love you and accept you," she smiled softly at her son. "Mama isn't disappointed with you. Mama is proud with you."
"B-but... but I failed! I-I tried my hardest! I really did!"
"I know. And mama is very proud of you for that. Mama knows how hard Tsu-kun worked. I'm proud of you. So very proud of you," she praised.
"Don't you hate me!? I'm stupid! I'm clumsy! I did everything wrong!"
She hugged her son tightly. "I love you. I love you, no matter how stupid or clumsy you are. I will always love you. I will never hate you. I love you, Tsu-kun. I love you so very much. My precious sky, my sun, my heart."
Tsuna could only do nothing but cry his heart out, apologising over and over at his mother.
Nana in return, would hug him tighter, saying, "I love you," over and over again.
And as he cried, Tsuna thought, "Ah, her love for me is really heavy."
