Sammi's POV  (Picture above is Sammi)

1 year ago (Age 7)

It was just another saturday. People walking in, talking to children, either picking a kid or leaving without one. Not many people would talk to me. It was probably because I hid from them at the back of the room or just wouldn't say anything to them. It's not that they were mean people, it's just that I didn't want a family. I didn't want to go home with some stranger that will al ready have expectaions for me. They would want me to go to school, get a job, get married and have my own family, then eventually... well you know what happens.

I didn't want that. I wanted to be free. And thats exactly what I'm going to be.

I snuck up the stairs and walked into my stared room. No one would notice I was gone. The other kids had dreams of familys and the workers didn't really care for us. At school my teachers would say that I was mature for my age, say that I was like an adult in a kids body. But I knew that as soon as I was free, I would act more like a kid.

I grabbed my bag that I had packed earlier which had a change of clothes, some food and water, and of course my baseball bat that was sticking out of the bag slightly so that I could grab it easily if needed. I climbed out the window and stood on the fire escape. I streatched out my arms and took a deep breath of the city air. I looked into the room once more before climbing down the ladder. As soon as my feet landed on the ground I took off running. I ran through the busy streets, ignoring the looks of the other people. I don't care what they thought of me. I only cared about one thing.

I was free.
