Hawk opened his eyes, still filled with dread from the night before.

He looked at the bright sun and realized Jay Wing wasn't by his side.

He stood up in alarm but calmed down once he saw Jay Wing carrying a mouse over to the two.

"So," Jay Wing began while setting the mouse down. "Are we going to see Starry Leap tonight?"

"No. Not tonight. Tomorrow night, actually." Hawk replied.

"I just want to spend more time with you, that's all." Jay Wing told him, despite Hawk not asking him why. "Cherish every moment we have together. Considering, without you, I bet I'd be dead."

"Me too," Hawk said, coming closer to Jay Wing.

Suddenly Jay Wing looked outside. "Uh-oh. It's sunrise."

Hawk titled his head, looking outside as well. It indeed was. "How is that bad?"

"I have to get home." Jay Wing immediately turned around to get out of the cave. "I loved living here, but, not anymore. I can't."

Hawk wanted to ask him to stay longer, but he didn't want to make Jay Wing uncomfortable.

"Thanks for being here with me."

Jay Wing smiled. "You're welcome." And with that, he was gone.

Hawk didn't want to watch Jay Wing leave. He wasn't in the mood to sadden himself further.

He decided to watch Gwennie hunt outside, his fear kept him from wanting to go outside himself.

Gwennie was crouched down in the grass, Feather Tail behind her watching her.

Gwennie prepared to go forward until Feather Tail looked ahead. Hawk assumed she saw Jay Wing leaving.

"I need to go." Feather Tail told Gwennie, who put her ears down sadly. "Really? You can't stay even a little longer?"

Feather Tail shook her head. "I'd love to, but I'd be in a bloody lot of trouble if I didn't follow Jay Wing home!"

Gwennie watched angrily as Lightning caught the mouse she was hunting for her.

"Oh. My bad. Was this your mouse?" Lightning asked.

Gwennie shook her head. "No. It's fine." Hawk could tell she wasn't that happy about it, though.

Gwennie went back inside.

-

Gwennie entered the elder's cave. "Come on in, dear." Spark Storm said from a distance.

Gwennie sat down by Spark Storm. "What is it you need me for?"

"I have important news for you, Gwennie."

"And that is?"

"It's something very big. Very scary."

"Just tell me already!"

Spark Storm looked Gwennie right in the eyes.

"That brother of yours. Hawk."

Gwennie tilted her head. "What about him?"

Spark Storm began chuckling. "Oh, girl, be scared of the boy."

Gwennie frowned in confusion.

"What's coming to you is far more than what you deserve."

Gwennie sat there silently. This intrigued her.

Spark Storm smiled. "I know what you're thinking. 'What does Spark Storm mean?' Well." She looked out the elder room window and down at the shiny green grass. "Time is ticking away. You're going to run out."

Gwennie continued to sit and listen, unaware of how high her ears were perked up.

"Mark my words, you're doomed more than the aspect of doom itself." Spark Storm was grinning wide, incredibly amused at the thought of death. She always loved the subject.

This is.. Somewhat amazing! Gwennie thought to herself. Being told about my own demise is cool!

Spark Storm laid down on her bed. "Never go near a church bell's chime."

"W-Wow..." Were the only words Gwennie could manage out.

"Enjoy everything while you enjoy it." Spark Storm said.

Gwennie nodded and stumbled out of the room.
