A young woman is out for a nice calming swim in one of the inland canals of northern Florida. It is 1993. Being six and a half months pregnant and all, her doctor recomended getting light exercise.

Suddenly, something from the depths slams into her. She looks over at her hand, it burns with an intencity of pain she had never felt. She raises it carefully out of the water. She watches in horror as it drips blood. The water around her clouds red. In these moments she wasn't only worried about her own life, but the life still growing inside of her.

In her peripheral vision, she sees a sharp, grey fin swimming torward her. She feels a sharp pain in her leg and cries out. She knows she needs first aid, but she is alone. There is nothing she can do, but gather herself and try to swim to shore.

She finally makes it to saftey. Dawn was rushed to the hospital, where her life-threatening wounds were treated. Her leg alone needed 85 stitches.

Two and a half months later, she gave birth to a baby boy. He is now 23. He was born healthy and was named Mackintire Shark Shawman.
