Winged Freak *~1~*

I sat in the tree silently, my wings tight against my back, blood dripping off the tip of my left wing as I watched the man pass by.

I felt sweat cross over my left eye then I quickly wiped it away.

The man was right under me. I held my breath and waited for him to pass.

A drop of blood fell off my wing and as it started falling it felt like everything was in slow motion.

I held my breathe and press my side against the tree, trying to hide as it landed on his shoulder.

The man glanced at his shoulder before he looks up through those red eyes and grinned "Hello young Lamia."

Three things freaked me out about him...

1) The fact he knew my name

2) Those eyes...

3) And the wicked grin on his face

I jumped up and jumped from tree to tree picking up speed easily.

When I heard the mans feet hitting against the earthen floor I pushed myself to go faster, trying to get away from him.

"No reason to run!" His high voice squeaked.

I sat up gasping for air and looked around the cave.

Only a dream, I thought to myself.

Lucas stirred awake and stared at me through half closed "Hmm... what's wrong?" He asked in a whisper trying not to wake Kimiko.

I bit back tears and shook my head "Nothing."

He knew I was lying in an instant "It was the dream again, wasn't it?"

I couldn't lie to him. I was silent for what seemed like ages.

"Was it?"

"Yes... only it was someone different... he was short, pudgy, and his eyes were blood red." A small tear escaped and ran down my cheek. Damn you, I cursed at my emotions.

Lucas sat up and frowned "Please, don't cry."

I put on the best fake smile I could "I'm ok, Lucas. Don't worry."

He stared into my eyes, his own clouding with worry as he simply nodded, scooting closer to me, "Get some sleep."
