The first thing I remember was a blinding light of gold and rose, I was warm and I was safe but I was alone. I remember standing up with my hand on my head, I didn't know who I was or where I was.

The world around me was like cotton candy and despite the warmth I shivered. There wasn't a soul around, there was only emptiness as far as my eyes could see. I looked down at myself, I was wearing a beautiful white dress and I was barefoot. Clinched in my hand was a beautifully carved wooden bow with a design of hearts and doves. In my other hand I held a quiver with arrows with heart shaped arrow heads. Under my feet the ground was fluffy soft, that was when I realized I was surrounded by clouds. As the clouds were floating past me, I felt a sudden odd feeling in my back. I looked and I had wings, beautiful white feathered wings.

Using my wings I soared through the clouds, desperate to find a living soul. The sun set and the moon rose, suddenly I wasn't so scared anymore. In that moment who I was became clear, my name was Amorette. I know because the man in the moon told me so, I only wish he told me more.

Upon finding out my name, I decided to find others in hopes of ending my loneliness. I flew down through the clouds until I could see the world below. I gently landed in the outskirts of a village and from afar I could see children running and playing by fires, and adults talking as they cooked over these outdoor pits. As I approached no one turned their heads to look.

They must be so busy they didn't notice me, so I spoke up.

"Excuse me, I hate to interrupt. Could you please tell me where we are and if there is anywhere I could stay the night?"

Silence was my answer. These people were beginning to agitate me, they were blatantly ignoring me.

"Excuse me. I don't mean to intrude..."

I went to touch a woman's arm as she cooked, but my hand went right through her. She turned away from the pot and gestured towards her children, calling them to come eat. As she did this, her arm went straight through me and I stood frozen in horror before realizing the awful truth. I flew off with tears threatening to spill. No one could see me, no one could hear me. I was all alone.

As I burst through the clouds above and saw the night time sky I stopped trying to hold back the tears. As they fell I looked up at the stars above, I felt as though I was the only person in this world and no one in it could possibly understand. I saw the moon shine upon me and I asked.

"Why am I like this Manny? Why am I the only one? Why did you make me this way, is there a point to my suffering?"

He never answered me, and to this day I still don't know the answer.
