Erin opened the door with a big grin on her face, her strawberry blonde hair pinned up in a messy bun, wearing a pink dressing gown with half her makeup done. Erin was a genuinely sweet hearted girl, who had also felt reluctant to go along with Jess back when she preferred to act like Regina George. She was relieved when I'd finally got Jess to change her mind, though she'd never spoken up on my side during all our arguments. She was a kind girl but she had always been a bit weak and spineless, something I was working on with her. Erin was extremely rich, and lived in a massive white mansion with three floors, about twenty rooms and a grand sweeping staircase that reminded me of downtown abbey.
"Hey guys, come on in. We're upstairs." She greeted.
Jess pushed past her and strutted up the stairs like she owned them with only a vague flick of her wrist as a hello. I rolled my eyes at Jess's behaviour playfully and Erin laughed behind her hand.
When we followed into Erin's room on the third floor, Jess was already seated between Melody and Aria in front of the large mirror that took up a whole wall of Erin's bedroom. Melody and Aria looked up at me in acknowledgement and we exchanged tight lipped smiles.
Melody was tall and willowy, with a body that could make grown men weep and a face to match. Her clear blue eyes, sculpted cheekbones, full lips and long silky white blonde hair had been the kryptonite of many boys and men alike. Aria was shorter, with plainer features but an undeniably sweet face nonetheless. The two girls looked angelic and were closer to each other than anyone else out of our friendship group...and I didn't trust them as far as I could throw them. That probably wasn't the best analogy as together the girls probably only weighed 100 pounds soaking wet and I could most likely toss them pretty far.

Melody and Aria were all up for continuing Jess's reign of terror and I know that in the past they'd counselled Jess to ditch me and start bullying me as well. I hated those girls, and they knew it. But for some reason Jess insisted on keeping them around. Whenever I asked her about it she'd only tap her nose secretively and say "Gotta keep those enemies close B.", but I suspected that she was genuinely fond of them. I'd always considered Aria the bigger threat out of the two. I'd seen her use her deceptively innocent and forgettable features to lie her way out of situations, or to fade into the background while drama unfolded- drama she was usually the cause of.

I sat beside Jess and dropped my duffel bag beside me. I started rummaging until I pulled out my make up bag. Erin skipped over to her state of the art speaker system and turned to face us all with a smile.
"Music anyone?"

As we chatted idly and primped, preened and beautified ourselves I had no idea that attending this party was going to change my whole life and everything I'd ever known.
