ONE: Trouble calls my name

Jenny's stormy gray eyes threatened to pierce through my skin if I refused to obey her orders. I shook my head and mouthed a 'no' after my voice failed to sound itself. I was scared, but I kept a stern face and a set jaw. I couldn't satisfy this girl's thirst for blind loyalty.

She had already gotten to much of it.

My ears caught her slow sigh as she shaped her lips to speak. " Look Rachel, honey...you do this for me," she placed her clear waxed hands on my ordinary arms,"or I'll do something you will most probably regret," she scrunched her nose and shook her head,"Badly."

My mind faltered for the slightest if seconds and my face lost its boldness. I could feel my confidence rushing out and fear tumbling down to take its place.

The only target she can aim at to make me comply to her needs was my brother.

The worst thing?

She knows it.

The gears in my head started to rotate vigorously and I decided to give an answer before the cons broke. I inhaled deeply and gave my reply, risking everything.

"Try me."

I felt my confidence regain its buoyancy. It had won the battle against fear. "Even if the sky threatens to fall down, I would never respect a snob like you." I tried to add as much spite in my words as possible. Her light gray eyes suddenly seemed to turn into a hurricane(Hurricane Jenny, maybe? Since all hurricanes have female names).

She wanted me to complete her weekend project since everybody knows that I am the only one who can do it perfectly. As far as unfortunate circumstances go, Jenny was high in beauty but low in intellect. She needed something to consolidate her status. She needed a hook to hold on.

And she chose me.

How fortunate.

She then lifted her hand and grabbed my collar, slightly pulling my shirt up. Thankfully, I had my jacket on, but I didn't like the feel of her hands clutching my clothes.

"Take your hands off me, you bitch!" My hands grasped hers, trying to remove them, but her hold was too firm.

"You are not the boss here, honey."

"That doesn't mean you can harass me!"

She let out a low chuckle, a frightening sound.

Right now, it was not only anger but also vast amounts of fear which invaded my thoughts.

The sight of her long manicured nails made my blood halt. There was not a single soul nearby. The hallway was unnaturally empty, but I still prayed,

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, please send me a knight in shining armour to save me from this horrid mess.

She flashed a creepy smile as I struggled against her hold. "Now, I'll ask you one last time, will you do it for me, or not?"

My lips trembled. The word 'yes' over-rode my thoughts. I was about to speak it when the sound of rapid footsteps echoed through the halls.

My hoping heart did somersaults.

My knight has finally arrived! God heard my plea!

The footsteps neared and when the person turned the corner to see Jenny and me, he stopped to pant. To my worst of convictions, he didn't come any closer to save me from the hands of the Evil Queen.

So much for great expectations.

He bent down from exhaustion and lifted his head, his eyelashes dripping with sweat.

Who is this kid, and why is he here?

Jenny's expression stemmed to asking the same question, but with a tinge of annoyance.

The boy spoke.

"Rachel...huff...it's Ryan...football ground...huff...fight...with Blake."

My face turned to stone at the name of my brother and Jenny's at Blake's, her boyfriend.

Her hands flopped to the side, leaving me free. Her head seemed to be analysing a number of possibilities before she smiled at me and with a smirk, said," Run along, Rachel, save your brother before my boyfriend sends him to hell."

I didn't have much strength in me to retaliate then. Fearfully, I turned my head and took off, my shoes squeaking on the white floor and heart pounding. Wondering why this particular pair of twins, consisting of Rachel and Ryan, we're having a crappy day.
