Mr. Monster was not a very likeable man, so it's no surprise that someone would have taken away his life. However, this mystery seems different from others. He had been killed in front of everyone, but no one had seen his murderer. I had been there. I remember it so well.

He had sat at the head of the table, to his right was his best friend Martin Martini. To his right was his new wife, Elizabeth Monster. We were here at his house to celebrate his new marriage; however, I knew she didn't marry him for his love. She and many other girls just wanted his money. The man was loaded. He was the head of a housing business, all he had to do was monitor his workers and he got bank. His wife didn't love him.

As for his friend Martin, well he was just as mean as Mr. Monster was. Both men had gone into power together, and it seemed sketchy to me on how they both got so rich so quickly. Something was always off about these two men. To the right of me was another woman, with hair so red it looked like blood was flowing off it. Her beady eyes seemed to glare into anyone who looked at her. Apparently, she was Elizabeth's sister.

Then to the left of me was another man, who I still didn't know. He was tall and dark as night, he looked like a body guard. However, his personality didn't resemble one at all. He was light hearted and laughed often. I don't know what connection he had with Mr. Monster, but I found him suspicious still.

As for me, I'm Demetris, the cousin of this man. I had unfortunatly been left here by my parents last week, so they could go on a business trip. I'm seventeen, I could have stayed home alone, but no. I'm not mature enough according to them. There is also another big reason why I don't like Mr. Monster, my uncle, he was abusive. No one else seemed to know that besides me. However, I have seen the way he handles some of his competition

. He blackmails them, and this is how other companies have fallen. When I had questioned him about it, he had beat me. I had not told my parents of our "disagreement". He had threatened to get rid of their jobs, sadly they worked in one of his home departments. So, I never told anyone of his evil actions.

I rubbed my leg under the table, flinching at the small bruise that formed earlier when he had hit me with his cane. He was talking to Mrs. Monster about some business matters, while Martini and the body guard man chatted. This seemed like a normal evening dinner, but something didn't feel right to me.

"Boy."

I looked up from my mashed potatoes and into my uncle's eyes as he addressed me.

"Did you ignore my earlier question?"

I frowned as I tried to recall him asking me anything, my mind went blank, "I'm sorry, I must have not heard you sir."

He chuckled and nudged his wife, "Kids these days never listen. Not at all. I tell you, I have a very disrespectful nephew. Don't worry though, this week while he is here I have put him into a class of respect."

Everyone at the table laughed at what he said while I looked up at him in shock, "A class or respect?"

"Why yes. I am putting you into a class. I have hired a teacher to come and give you some discipline lectures. I simply can't wait for it."

I leaned back in my chair in shock, momentarily unable to say anything. I was having trouble processing this. I have not been disrespectful since I got here. I had remained silent and tried my best to be good to prolong any beatings from him.

Then the lights flickered, everyone looked up at them in shock. They flickered once, twice, three times.

Mr. Monster begin to speak, "Well that is rather odd, but- "
