King Aaric was getting worried. His wife, Queen Alice, had gone into labor eight hours ago and he had not been able to see her yet. Horrible thoughts began to invade his poor mind. What if she's died? What if our child's died? What if both of them had died? What if...

His thoughts were interrupted when he felt a tug at his right hand and heard his five-year-old daughter Aethelwyne's voice. "Papa? Are you okay? You have been staring at the wall for a long time now. Alexa is getting worried about you." She looked at her four-year-old sister, who looked like she was about to cry. "And, I think Alexandra wandered off again..."

He sighed and stood up. "I shall find your youngest sister. Stay here and watch Alexa for me, please." And he walked off to find his one-year old daughter. Four hallways over, he saw her, being carried by one of the nurses.

"Here is your youngest daughter, your majesty," she said, handing him the confused infant.

"Thank you," he replied before nodding and heading back to where his oldest children and wife should be.

He sat back down and put Alexandra in his lap. He started playing with his child's hands, and he smiled. He heard his eldest two talking.

"...I hope we have a baby brother," said Aethelwyne, braiding Alexa's hair.

"Me too, t'e on'y boy in dis famiwy is daddy," she replied, looking over at Aaric and smiling. He noticed and waved, getting a wave back from Alexa and a giggle from both girls.

"Daddy's siwwy," the younger of the two said, giggling once again.

"He is," Aethelwyne agreed. She smiled a heavenly smile, finishing her sister's braid. "Done!" she said happily before shifting herself to see her sister's face.

"Yay!" she clapped, happy that her hair wouldn't be in her face anymore. "T'ank you, Aethy!"

Her older sister giggled at the nickname. "You're welcome, Alexa." And two heavenly smiles.

They were interrupted when the door to the room their mother was in opened, and then closed again after a pair of legs walked out. The girls looked up to see the doctor.

He had a blank expression on his face, and this worried King Aaric deeply. He set Alexandra beside him and stood up.

He frowned. "Is everything alright? What's going on?"

The doctor looked from his own feet to the King's eyes and smiled. "Everything's okay, your highness. You should come in. I'll get a nurse to watch your three oldest."

And with that, King Aaric nodded and walked in the room with the doctor as a nurse came and watched over the children for a bit.

Queen Alice was in the bed, holding and smiling at her newborn baby. She looked very tired. When she heard the door open, she looked up at King Aaric and smiled brighter. He smiled a smile of relief in return.

"Hello, my darling," she said. He walked over to her before she continued talking, "Say hello to your newest daughter, Florence."

He smiled brighter as he picked up the young princess. She cooed and he cooed back. She was wearing a bright smile. She grabbed one of his fingers and played with it. He stared in awe as the sleepy queen slowly fell asleep, as it was very late at night.

Giggles were heard as the three older sisters walked in, trying to get a look at their newborn sister, who was being hidden by their father, who was facing away from them. Hearing their giggles and footsteps, he turned around and showed them Florence.

Bright, heavenly smiles filled the room as giggles grew louder.

Flawless.
