Chapter 6
“Kaylia? Kaylia, wake up. We have arrived at the airport. Kaylia? KAYLIA WAKE UP!” I woke up suddenly to find Pilot Ryan shaking me awake. “Kaylia we just landed in the Orlando Airport. Here you will board a regular plane to take you to your mission. Your boarding pass and further instructions are in your purse. Good luck and be careful.” With that he opened the door and I exited into the busy airport.
All right Kaylia, you can do this. Just remember your cover and you will be fine. Ugh, I still have that weird feeling… I look at my boarding pass; Gate 16, American Airlines, 1st class, Row 2, Seat A. Okay this looks good. Oh crap, the flight leaves in 20 minutes. I got to book it! I speed walk through the terminal and find Gate 16. It says I’m flying into Tucson, Arizona. Arizona? Okay then. I go to board the plane and hand the flight attendant my ticket. I have to remember to talk in a British accent now. I am officially Rose Andrew Barlow now.
“Thank you dear, you may board the plane now. Your carry-on can be put in the overhead bin.” The flight attendant told me nicely. I noted that her name was Nancy.
“Thank you Nancy.” I said politely in my accent.
“Are you from England dear? Isn’t this a far away from home to be by yourself?” Nancy inquires.
“Yes, I am British. And no, I am traveling to meet my mum’s best friend who I’m staying with now.” I answer.
“Oh my! You’re a long way from home. What is your name?”
“Rose Andrew Barlow, or Andie.”
“Alright Andie, I have to finish collecting boarding passes but I will see you on the plane.” With that I walk down the tunnel into the plane.
Once I’m on I put my suitcase in the overhead bin and sit down. Twenty minutes later the plane takes off and we are in the air. I talk to the flight attendant, Nancy for a little bit, and then put my headphones in. I love to look out the window at the clouds and the earth below. I just find that to be the coolest thing. (Well, it’s not cool when you’re jumping out of the plane and falling toward the earth, that’s always a little scary.) I noticed that there was a lady two seats behind me to the left that was trying to look casual when she looked at me every 3.4 minutes. I don’t know if I was just paranoid or what but I could have sworn she talked into her watch a couple of times…
Andie?” Nancy asked, interrupting me thought, “What would you like for lunch?”
“Oh, I get lunch? How lovely. Do you have any vegetarian options?” I don’t know if I mentioned it earlier or not but I’m a vegetarian.
“Yes, of course, since you are in first class you have a variety of options. What do you feel like?”
“Well, do you have pizza or a sandwich and chips?”
“We have a veggie delight sub or grilled cheese sandwich with veggie chips. Is that alright?”
“Yes, I’ll have the grilled cheese, thank you.” She gave me my meal and I got Mountain Dew to drink, which by the way, is the only soda I drink. I’m glad she didn’t realize that chips actually meant fries… ha-ha. I finished my meal and put my headphones back in. I decided to listen to some Holland Alive. The last time I listened to their music was all the way back home with Abbie! I went back to looking out the window and in what seemed like no time at all the pilot was preparing us for landing.
