miss jane passed me my bag as i stepped from behind the counter. people talked amongst themselves as they walked out. the diner was dark, a little gloomy. miss jane had to close it down since she was getting older but i promised to keep it going after she passed.

everyone smiled at me and patted my back; almost like it was a 'special' day. as I pressed the door open and heard the bell ring, I looked behind me and smiled once more at miss jane. she mouthed 'go along.'

I nodded my head and finally turned around and walked out. i opened my door and threw my bag to my passenger side and slid my key into the ignition.

I pulled away from the small family diner that everyone loved and cared for; especially miss jane. miss jane was getting too old to take care of the diner. i had asked to take it but my parents repeatedly said no.
