"Man this blows! I don't even deserve to be here!" Zack yells.
"None of us deserve to be here." I add.
I'm Jackie. Jackie Spades. Right now I'm sitting in detention with a bunch of other 'rebellious' kids in our school. Worse Friday afternoon ever.
Anyways, I'm here for skipping class. My hair was not on point this morning so I used all of first period to fix it.
"Hey we're suppose to be working on this packet. Stop chatting" Amy announces.
Amy's an annoying goody-two shoes. I don't even know how she ended up in detention.
"How'd you even get here?" I ask without realizing it.
She gives me an annoyed look and replies.
"Mr.Bennett made a mathematical mistake during class. I simply corrected his error and he gave me detention!" she explains.
"It ain't even like that, man. Amy completely finished Mr.B's life. She dissed his old @ss" Trevor says laughing.
Amy turns her head and continues the packet while everybody basically counts the dust in the air.
"Hey y'all wanna play a game?" A kid name Trevor asks.
Everybody shrugs their shoulders and mutter 'sure'
"Aight so this game is kinda like a bet. Everybody is gonna get matched up with another person. Those two people have to pretend to be a couple until prom. The couple that wins prom king and queen is the winner. And the winner will get 30 bucks each from all of us." Trevor starts.
"You have to pretend to be a real couple or you're out" he continues.
Everyone exchanges weird looks around the room.
But soon everyone says their in except for one person.
Jace.
Jace is that quiet mysterious dude that everyone has in their school. He's also creepy as hell.
"Yo Jake..right?" Trevor asks.
"It's Jace, and what do you want?" Jace replies annoyed.
" So you in the game or nah?" He asks.
"It's stupid. But I could use some money so sure" he replies.
"Aight so here are the couples randomly" He pulls out a piece of paper, rips it into piece, then writes everyone's name down. He then takes off his SnapBack and puts the papers in it.
He pulls out random names til there are no more.
" Okay here are the couples: Tami and Mark. Jessie and Peter. Denver and Trisha. Me and Brianna. Tristan and Josh--" Trevor starts reading.
"Um bro, you made a mistake. I can't be paired with Josh." Tristan says.
Josh just nods his head in agreement.
"Sorry man, there's an uneven number of boys and girls. You two gotta be paired up." Trevor says.
"How am I gonna pretend to be gay for a month?" Tristan asks.
"I don't know dude, figure it out. It's all for money. Remember that."
Josh just nods his head again. He doesn't talk much, does he?
Trevor reads the last names which happen to be me and Jace. Of course I got him. That's not cliche at all.
I walk over to Jace and try to make the best of things. I stand in front of his desk and he doesn't even acknowledge my existence. I knew this was gonna be hard.
"Hey I know we don't talk much and we really don't know anything about each other, but we need each other to win. So please can we cooperate..for just a month?" I beg.
He laughs..okay I'm confused.
"Of course, babe. Why don't we hold hands at lunch and then go promise ring shopping" he exclaims.
I think he's being sarcastic.
"What's wrong honey? You don't love me? he pouts.
Yup it's definitely sarcasm.
"Haha very funny. But keep that up so we can win. We need to be the cutest couple ever." I tell him.
"No problem snuggle bunny" he smirks.
This is gonna be just so much fun... :/
