Chapter 1

(A/N I know it's not that good right now but trust me it does get better I'm just not good at starting things)

It is finally my birthday! I know that people sometimes get less excited for their birthday as they get older but today I am turning 16, and as a present from my mom she's going take me to get my drivers license!

But my mom doesn't know I know because I was eavesdropping when she booked an appointment for me to take my test and she never found out.

I was in the middle of daydreaming about me driving around in my own car when I was interrupted by my mom yelling from downstairs.

"Lisa, wake up, breakfast is ready!"

"Ugh, okay mom, I'll be right down."

I quickly get out of bed, brush my teeth and hair, and get changed then go downstairs.

I am walking down the stairs and I smell pancakes, eggs, and bacon. Boy, my mom must be excited for me too because when I look at her, she has this big smile on her face, and it's almost frightening. But I smile back at her to make her happy. I look down at my breakfast and there is a slip of paper under the plate sticking out. I pull it out and it's a happy birthday card. I read it aloud as my moms smile grows.

"Happy Birthday sweetie! I know you have always wanted to try to get your drivers license and today is that day!"

Taped under my moms writing was a business card. I know instantly it is a card for a driving school but I pretend to read it so she doesn't get suspicious.

After I am done "reading" the card, I look up at my mom and she is on the verge of tears. I walk over to give her a hug and she starts to cry. She mumbles something that sounds like,

"My little baby is growing up!"

I smile and shake my head because I know she is overreacting. It's not like I am leaving her alone for the rest of her life. I can feel her tears in my hair and I release myself from her hug.

"Mom," I whine.

"Oh honey, I'm sorry" she says, wiping her tears.

We manage to get through breakfast and then we leave to go take my driving test.
