It was the next day and I was in the cafeteria surrounded with my friends. They were talking about Friday night. I really didn't plan on going. They thought I would do my last minute change of mind. But, I really didn't want to go. I didn't want to meet Sage's girlfriend. I fun my finger a long the ticking numbers.

I look up and Ethan caught my attention. He had his board in his hand like always. His eyes landed on me and he made weird face which caused me to laugh. He gestured for me to follow him.

But then I feel Sage pull up my sleeve. I push him away and I give him a dirty look.

"What do you think you're doing?" I ask.

"What do you keep on talking to him?"

I look at Ethan who was waiting awkwardly and made another weird face.

I laugh again and Sage snaps me out of my thoughts.

"Carson?"

"What?" I ask. "Um, I don't know. I"ll see you guys later." I say getting up and running over to Ethan.

He wrapped his arm around me. "Took you long enough, freak."

I push him off playfully as we made our way out the gates.

"Where are we going?"

"For an adventure." Ethan smiles. "Screw school."

I bite my lip as I look back. "Okay... Sure."

Ethan's P.O.V

We made our way to a building. I pull down the ladder and Carson climbs up first. We make our way up to the top. The air hit us and it felt fresh. She smiled at the view. I sat down on the edge and she sits down next to me.

"This is amazing." Carson exclaims.

"I come here a lot." I say.

"You know some pretty cool places, Dolan."

I turn to her and as she stared at the view. "How come you don't come to places like this?"

"How do you know I don't?"

"Because you're easily impressed with this view. I've seen a lot better."

She shrugged her shoulders. "My friends... They're not into adventuring and getting out there. We go to one place every weekend. The garden. My friends smoke weed there and get drunk."

"Do you?"

I nod. "I used too. Not anymore."

"I used to adventure a lot." I state. "My brother and I. We used to go everywhere. New places almost everyday."

"And then?" Carson asks starring me in the eyes.

"And then he timed out." I whisper. "He met his girl and now... We don't hang out that much."

Carson nodded slowly. "I hate that word. Timed out."

"It sucks."

"It does." She laughed coldly. "I had always been scared of Sage timing out. Maybe that's why I've been so weird lately. Because I knew his time was almost up."

"Do you love him."

Carson looks at me and then back at the view. She nodded slowly. "Yeah. I do."

"Whoever you time out on, there really lucky to have you, Woodridge."

She smiles at me and moves closer. I wrap my arm around her as we watch the view.

"Same to you, Dolan."
