"Dad do I have to go to camp" I asked as I put my bags in the backseat of my dads black van.
"Yes you do sweetheart, your mother and I decided that we want you to get out of the house and do something fun during the summer when your not in school".
"But I do do fun things during the summer" I said.
"Fun things that don't involve you staying in your room reading a book online or offline and not only leaving the house to go to the library to read and get even more books doesn't count Rose" he said with a small smirk.
I was about to say something but then stopped knowing he had me stumped, "okay, fine" I said defeated with a pout.
He squatted down to my height and kissed my forehead. "That's my snickerdoodle" he said with a smile making me giggle.
After that my dad helped me into the backseat next to my bags and I buckled up as he got into the driver's seat. As we drove towards the camp I couldn't help but think that the other kids there will make fun of me just because of my looks, why because when I was born the doctors noticed that I had bright red eyes and because  of it as I grew up it made it impossible for me to make any friends cause whenever I did try the second they saw my eyes they would either run away, try to hit me, or make fun of me and call me names. I was shook out of my thoughts by my dad telling me that were here, I looked out my window as we passed through the entrance. As we did I noticed a big sign surrounded by bushes that said, "welcome to camp crystal lake".

We passed through the entrance and drove down and parked. We got out while my dad got my bags I observed my surroundings. The camp was a lot bigger than I thought it was, it also had a big lake that was beautiful. My dad signed me in, gave me a hug and left. I walked around but had no idea where I was so I walked to the closest building near me and as I stepped inside I realized that I was in the dining hall I walked towards the kitchen to see if there was anyone in there. I was halfway there when a woman and who I assumed to be her son walked out through the kitchen door.
The woman hadn't noticed me yet and I was nervous of what their reaction would be to my eyes so I began to slowly back my way back towards the door I came in. I was almost there when the son peeked around his mom  and saw me before I could though the boy pulled on her sleeve and pointed in my direction.
"Yes Jason dear?" She said.
He pointed at me again.
She turned and saw me. "Oh hello sweetheart, are you lost?" She asked with a gentle smile.
I was still nervous but nodded my head yes. "I'm trying to find my cabin but couldn't find it" I said.
"OK well I'm Pamela Voorhees and this is my son Jason Voorhees, what's your name sweetie as she walked to where I was her son following behind but staying out of view.
I put my head down nervously and said loud enough for them to hear me. "My names Rose Smith ma'am" I said.
She smile at how polite I was she ushered us back outside and turned to her son. "Jason I want you to take Rose to her cabin okay, I have to finish working on lunch for everybody"she said. He nodded his to his mom then walked over to me and made a follow me gesture and lead me down a path few minutes passed when I started to see the cabin's up ahead, I looked over at the boy and noticed that he was staring at me I quickly put my head down.
"Why do you put your down all the time?" he asked curiously.
"I-i-ifff I don't you'll think I'm weird and make fun of me" I said sadly.
He gently grabbed my shoulder making me stop then placed his hand under my chin and lifted up my head, I knew the second he saw my eyes when his own widened in shock. I quickly shut my eyes waiting for the reaction that I knew would come but what came wasn't at all what I expected.
"Their beautiful" he said.
I looked up at him in shock then I felt myself blushing slightly though I doubt you would be able to see it very well. I shyly gave him a small smile. "No ones ever said that to me before except for my parents" I said.
"Why not" he asked.
"Its just that I've always had a hard time making any friends because of my eyes and I thought you'd be the same way" I explained.
He looked to be thinking hard about something then he took a deep breath then reached up and took of his hood letting me finally get a look at his face. His facial features were slightly deformed but not really that bad I studied his face he had a cut lip, a slightly drooped eye but that was about it tell you the truth his appearance was actually cute, I blushed harder as I thought that.
He studied me reaction surprised and shocked. " your not disgusted by my looks?" He asked softly. " most would have run or called me names by now".
I looked at the boy in front of me he had been through the same troubles as I have maybe he was meant to be my first friend. I gave him a big smile and replied nervously cause it could go either way. "Well I'm not like most, do you want to be my first friend" I asked.
He gave a huge smile so big I thought his cheeks would split. Suddenly I was wrapped up in a hug and squeezed tight I smiled and hugged back. We parted and he still had that smile on his face.
“yes I'll be your friend, I've never had a friend before" he said happily.
And suddenly I was glad that I came to camp. Unknowing to us both a woman stood a little away from we stood and smiled happily "finally" she whispered to herself as she watched the two continue to make their way towards the cabins. She smiled before she made her way back to the dining hall.
