Today is the day of our 4 month scan and I'm meeting my midwife for the first time today.
We decided that it would be just me and Ryan going today because we wanted to find out the gender but Ella didn't want to know what we were having so we came to the decision that we would just go alone.
"Hi can I help you" A young girl asked enthusiastically. She looked so familliar but I couldn't put my finger on where I knew her from.
"Uhm yeah, I'm here for an appointment" I said.
"Okay and what name is it?" Her voice sounded like someone I knew.
"Mollie" Ryan added considering I was in a deep stare at this young girl.
"Okay well just take a seat over there and you will be called through shortly" She smiled pointing to the waiting area.
"Do you recognise her from somewhere" I said looking towards the receptionist.
"Nope" He said hardly paying any attention. I spent the next 10 minutes staring at her but I couldn't think of where I knew her from.
"Mollie?" A doctor called making me and Ryan get up and follow in her direction.
I lay on the table and pulled my shirt up to reveal my bump.
"Wow baby is growing fast" Dr Walker said placing the cold gel on to my bare stomach.
She moved the wand over my bump getting the image clearly on the screen. She pointed to the small blob on the screen and I felt tears prick my eyes.
"Do you want to know what the gender is?" She asked wiping the gel off my stomach.
Both me and Ryan nodded our heads excitedly.
"Your having a baby... girl!" She said causing Ryan to smile widely and place a soft kiss on my cheek.
We were sent through to the next room to meet with our midwife. There sat at the desk was a brunette girl wearing glasses who looked up at the two of us as we walked in. She stood up and out stretched her hand for the two of us to shake.
The door opened and the receptionist came in to talk to the midwife.
"Sorry can I just borrow my sister for a second?" She asked dragging her outside of the room. After about 2 minutes she came back into the room.
"Sorry about that... I'm Lucy Lively your midwife" She smiled. Both me and Ryan looked at each other intensely. I knew why the receptionist looked so familiar now and so did Ryan.
"Uhm I don't mean to be intrusive but is your dad Daniel Lively?" I asked carefully, her eyes held confusion but she nodded her head saying yes.
Ryan instantly got up and stormed out of the room.
"I'm sorry could we please reschedule this for another day?" I asked gathering my coat from the chair and leaving hearing her faint 'sure' in the distance.
I knew that Ryan was thinking the same thing as I was but there was nothing saying that her second name wasn't just a coincidence and the fact they both have a dad called Daniel. It took me a little longer to get to the car than usual because of my sore feet. Ryan had his hands tightly gripped around the wheel, his knuckles were turning white and I could see his jaw clenched. I knocked on the car window and without even looking in my direction he pressed a button which opened the door. I slid in to the drivers seat and placed my hand on his thigh which made him relax a little bit.
"Ryan it might not be-" He was quick to cut me off.
"Don't! Were going home" He almost shouted. The ride home was silent, I didn't dare to speak and Ryan didn't seem to want to. We pulled onto the drive and Ella was stood in the window waving at us, I reached towards the car door handle put Ryan grabbed my arm softly.
"I'm sorry babe" He apologised.
"Don't worry about it... lets not let that ruin what was a good day" I smiled planting a kiss on his lips which made him smile.
"Is the baby okay?" Ella asked as soon as we opened and stepped through the door.
"Good and healthy" We both said in unison.
"And the midwife... is she nice?" She asked.
"Seems nice enough" I shrugged awkwardly but Ryan scoffed and rolled his eyes.
"Oh hunny do you not like her?" Ella said directly to her son. I glared at him telling him with my eyes that if he tells her before we know the truth he is dead.
"Like Mollie said, she seems nice" He muttered.
