Madison's POV:
I slip into my black lace-up pumps as I turn off the hot curling iron. Walking over to my dresser, I spray my perfectly curled blonde locks in place while staring at my reflection in the long thin mirror. The royal blue dress fit me like a glove as I patted over the beading around my waist. The necklace Grayson gave me matches perfectly with the color scheme of my accessories.
I quickly spray on my favorite perfume as the finishing touch to this outfit. The makeup I had done earlier at Sephora really made me look like a completely different person. I was never one to wear a lot of makeup, but when I do it's a drastic change. The light blue eyeshadow resembled my dress and my dark eyeliner made my crystal blue eyes pop. It was a beautiful look, even if I felt the outfit was over the top.
I deeply sigh as I walk over to my bed to grab my phone. Before this night continues I needed to call Grayson to see how he was doing. To my surprise his phone was off and went straight to voicemail. He's probably at the marina. My bedroom door suddenly swings open and my mother appears in the doorway.
"What are you wearing?" She glances at my dress.
"Something I'm sure you'll make twenty comments about." I roll my eyes back as I walk over to my closet.
"You already had the perfect homecoming dress." She crosses her arms over her chest. "The white lace Michael Kors gown that I bought you before you left."
"I'm going to a high school dance, not the Academy Awards." I sigh and grab my small black purse out of the messy closet. "Just because you bought that for me didn't mean I was going to wear it."
"You are too underdressed for homecoming, especially because this is your last." She shakes her head.
"I happen to love what I'm wearing." I remark with a sharp undertone. "And before you say anything else, no I'm not changing."
"Why aren't you wearing your pearls?" She motions toward my neck. "You always wore those to events."
"I dropped those like two years ago, you just never noticed." I mutter under my breath as I turn to face her.
"Where did that necklace come from?"
"Grayson gave it to me." I reach for it with a grin. "Once again I've been wearing it for two months, you just never noticed." I push past her and walk into the living room.
"I'm surprised he could afford anything with diamonds in it." She laughs at her cruel joke.
"He isn't poor, mother." I viciously snap at her remark. "He works really hard."
"On a boat." She scoffs while walking over to me.
"I'm not explaining his actions to you because every time I do you make a stupid remark." I cross my arms over my chest and angrily glance at her. Before this argument could get any more heated, there is a knock coming from the front door. "Lucky for you, my date is here."
"You have a date?" She raises an eyebrow at my shocking statement. "Who?"
"Christopher Walker." I make my way over to the door.
"Good choice, I heard he got accepted into Brown."
I shake my head and open the large metal door with a smile. "Hey."
"There's my hot date." Christopher smiles down at me. He looks very handsome in his black suit and matching slacks.
"You look great." I eye him up and down with a grin.
"Are you ready to go? Ava and Dylan are meeting us there."
"Yes, let's get out of here." I want to get as far away from my mother as possible.
