It was Friday night and I was in my room watching a movie. I was bored out of my mind. I had missed calls from Sage. I ignored them all.

"Honey?" I hear my mom.

"Yes." I call.

The door opens and my mom and Sage behind her.

"Sage is here."

I nod. "I can see that." I say with a laugh. "Thanks mom."

Sage shut the door and sat on my bed.

"Where were you yesterday?" He asked.

"With Ethan."

"That weird dude you only just met?"

I roll my eyes and I get out of bed. "What do you want?"

"I came here to come get you. We're going to the garden."

"I don't want to come." I say crossing my arms.

"Katie's in the car. She wants to meet you."

I walk over to my window and I see her sitting the car.

"She's pretty." I whisper.

"What?" Sage asks.

I shake my head and I get back into bed. "Nothing. I'm not coming. I'll see you guys on Monday."

"You're acting so weird." He mutters. "Whatever, see you Monday."

With that he left my house angrily. I hear him zoom down the street as I laid in bed. I grab my laptop and I resume my movie. I laid in bed bored, with nothing to do. I always thought that if I trapped myself in my room I won't ever need to meet the love of my life. I could be alone forever.

When I was in bed I her tapping on my window. I get out of bed and I see Ethan standing at the front of my house with pebbles in his hand.

"Woodridge, lets go!" He calls.

I laugh. "What are you doing here?"

"Word on the street is, there's a cool river close from here."

"Another cool place you know?" I ask.

He nods with a smile. "In or out?"

"In." I say closing my window.

I grab a jersey and I head for the front door. "Going out, be back later."

"When is later?" My mom asks with a frown.

"I mean, can I go out and be home later?" I ask with an awkward smile.

My mom rolled her eyes and nodded. "Home by eleven, Cars."

I swing open the door and I make my way over to Ethan. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we made our way to the mysterious river. While we were on our way there we passed the garden. We could hear my friends yelling and laughing.

"You can go with them you know." Ethan nudged.

"No." I reply. "I'm fine here."

Ethan smiled and raised his eyebrows. "You're starting to like to me."

I roll my eyes. "Sure."

Ethan just laughed and we made our way there. It was getting dark but the river was very pretty. Ethan laid down his jacket and gestured for me to sit down. I did so and he sat down next to me. We listened to the river as we sat there playing with the grass and taking in the sun set.

"I think this was what was lacking from my life." I say.

"And what was that?" He asked still playing with the grass.

"An adventure." I smile. "Three places I have gone in the last week and I will never forget how beautiful they are."

Ethan just smiled and stared back at the ground. He had seemed a bit off. Not his usually energized, full of questions self.

"You okay?" I question.

He nodded and laid down, looking at the sky.

"I really like hanging out with you." Ethan stated. "You're different to the other girls."

"How different?" I ask.

"Well, most girls want there time to move quicker. You want yours to move slower."

I nod. "Why wish for it to come quicker? It's stupid."

"Indeed it is." Ethan laughed.

"Can you just imagine? The people who get into relationships and fall in love before there time is up. How can you put yourself through that?"

Ethan's eyes faced the ground. His mood changed instantly and he stood up.

"How could they do that to themselves?" He whispered under his breath.

And he thought I couldn't hear him. But, I did. This universe was breaking Ethan more than it was breaking me.
