"Brace for impact!" Lexi screamed over the violent shaking and chaos. Once the thrashing stopped, I knew we had completed our crash landing.
"What the fuck just happened!" I stammered, "Who's responsible for this!"
"This isn't anyone's fault Tom!" Kirt screamed back at me, "Our crash on this planet is completely accidental, it was nobody's fault!"
I thought back to how I ended up in this situation; It was two months ago, when the astronomers on mars found evidence of a habitable planet nearby, they named the planet Solarium, and sent all 6 of us to research the planet and confirm the astronomers predictions. We were supposed to have a smooth landing, do some experiments, then leave in less than two days. Now that we crash landed, I just hoped we weren't stranded here.
"Ok first, check the engine is working, if it is, then make sure to move us to a more open area." I commanded Mark, our pilot.
"Sure thing sir." Mark responded.
"Lexi, check all of the important systems, and make sure they are operational." I commanded as I unclipped my seatbelt.
"Of course Tom, I'm already on it." Lexi, our engineer, responded.
I then continued to tell Kirt (our lead scientist) to check out the surroundings, then I told the other two scientists (Greg, and Karla) to help me clean up the objects that flew around during the crash.

____________

I helped clean for the next half an hour, until Mark called me over to look at what he discovered.
"The engine isn't operational, and we've lost all communication with mars." Mark sadly stated.
"Is there any way to fix the engine?"
I questioned
"Yes, it would probably only take me and Lexi about a week." Mark said.
"Great, after Lexi's done her work, start immediately!" I exclaimed. " I gotta go check on Kirt now."

_________

It took me almost an hour to find Kirt. When I found him, he was sitting at the top branches of a tree.
"So good news?" I asked
"Yes, the environment is extremely fertile for human life." He screamed down through the branches, "you should come up here!"
I climbed up the curved branches, and popped my head through the top of the trees canopy. The view was absolutely stunning, the leaves of the trees were a mix of vermilion and Amber, with patches of bright green vines. The sky was bright blue with thousands of stars that were visible even in daylight. About a mile away from us was a giant waterfall that led into a sapphire coloured river. About fifty miles back was a picturesque mountain with sharp spikes of crystal ice jabbing out around the peak.
Behind us, I heard sounds of squealing and flapping. When I turned, I saw about a thousand bird-like creatures that could only be described as flapping pancakes coming straight towards us. Me and Kirt had to duck into the safety of the branches as they went into our path.
From under the canopy, I saw the forest in a whole new light, I could see new fungus and bugs that I had never seen, and flowers that changed colours constantly.
"It's truly remarkable, isn't it?" Kirt asked
"Holy fuck, this is the most beautiful place I've ever been in, I've never seen something so inspiring." I admitted. "It won't be that bad, spending another week here."
"Huh... what do you mean another week!?" Kirt screeched.
"The engines broken, it can be fixed but it's going to take a week." I said.
"Oh no, this is bad!" Kirt screamed.
"Why?" I asked
"I found footprints of a giant animal living in this area, with the ship crashing, it retreated, but it's going to want to come back to reclaim its territory." Kirt stated.
"How big do you think it is." I questioned.
"To big for our tiny defences to handle." Kirt admitted
"Ok lets go back to the ship, and discuss this with everyone." I commanded.

___________

When we arrived back at the ship I couldn't find Lexi, Greg, or Karla; but Mark informed me that they left to check out the environment themselves. Apparently they had only been out for about a half an hour, and were expected to return soon.
Kirt and I told Mark what Kirt had discovered, and that we had to move, otherwise we would be killed by a animal of some kind.
"How do you know it's that deadly." Mark questioned Kirt.
"It's feet size are three times the size of ours." Kirt answered, "and we don't have any guns onboard the plane to kill it with.
"Can we set up a perimeter fence?" I asked
"Yes, I'll get on that immediately" Kirt said whilst rushing out of the room.
"If you want to go to sleep cap'n then I'll tell the rest the news when they arrive." Mark suggested
"Ok, I guess I have been awake for 34 hours straight." I went to my cabin and almost instantly fell asleep.

___________

About an hour into my deep slumber, I was woken by a sudden scream. I jumped out of the covers, and quickly opened the door. I ran towards the origin of the terrible screech. It was Lexi's room. I knocked a few times, but heard no sound.
"Lexi? Did you scream? Are you in their?" I voiced.
After waiting ten seconds, I decided I should try to get inside. As the captain, I have a master keycard to every room, but I usually don't use it because I don't want to barge in someone's private space. Anyways, I grabbed the keycard from my pocket then swiped it across the sensor. The red light turned green, and I turned the handle and opened the door.
What I saw sent shocks of confusion and terror all through my body. The window was smashed open from the inside, the room was full of nobody but me, and taunting me in the middle of the room stood a table with scratches etched in the metal, the scratches were in English, they said.
