Steve then brought Y/N to a building where war veterans go to a PTSD group meeting.
"What are we doing here?" Y/N wondered.
"I want you to meet someone. A friend I made a few days before you were unfrozen," Steve answered.
She nodded and they went inside.
They went to one of the rooms to see Sam leading a group. They leaned against the door frame, listening to what was being said.
"The thing is I think it's getting worse. A cop pulled me over last week, he thought I was drunk. I swerved to miss a plastic bag. I thought it was an IED," a female war veteran explained.
"Some stuff you leave there, other stuff you bring back. It's our job to figure out how to carry it. Is it gonna be in a big suitcase or in a little man-purse? It's up to you," Sam responded.
The meeting soon ended and the siblings waited for Sam. After waving the female war veteran bye, he walked to Steve and Y/N.
"Look who it is. The running man," Sam commented, noticed Y/N, and said, "You found your sister?"
"It was a surprise to me too. They found her a couple of days ago and she just woke up today. So I've been showing her around," Steve answered, putting his arm around her.
"Nice to meet you, Lady America. Sam Wilson," Sam introduced, holding out his hand.
"Nice to meet you too, Sam. And please, call me Y/N," Y/N responded, shaking it.
"Okay, Y/N," Sam agreed as they let go.
"We caught the last few minutes. It's pretty intense," Steve commented about the meeting.
"Yeah. We all got the same problems. Guilt, regret," Sam stated.
"Ain't that the truth," Y/N said to herself sadly, thinking about Bucky.
But Steve heard it and rubbed her arm in comfort.
"You lose someone?" Steve asked Sam.
"My wingman, Riley. Flying a night mission. Standard PJ rescue op, nothing we hadn't done a thousand times before, till RPG knock Riley's dumbass out of the sky. Nothing I could do. It's like I was up there just to watch," Sam explained.
"I'm sorry," Steve said.
"Me too," Y/N added.
"After that, I had really hard time finding a reason for being over there, you know?" Sam asked.
"But you're happy now, back in the world?" Y/N wondered.
"Hey, the number of people giving me orders is down to about zero. So, hell yeah. You thinking about getting out?" Sam stated.
"No. I don't know. To be honest, I don't know what I would do with myself if I did," Steve answered honestly.
"Ultimate fighting?" Sam remarked.
This made both of the siblings laugh.
"It's just a great idea off the top of my head. But seriously, you could do whatever you want to do. What makes you happy?" Sam challenged.
Steve shrugged and answered, "I don't know."
"How about that your awesome sister is back from the dead?" Y/N joked.
Sam laughed and responded, "I like her. Up top."
He held out his hand for a high-five for her and she high-fived, also laughing. Steve just rolled his eyes with a smile. He knew Y/N and Sam would become instant friends. Little did they know that Fury was under attack.
