Alpha Blood

Chapter 9

Kayde’s POV

My fingers brushed the metal handle as I jumped down from the bus; I had only got a few yards from the school gates when I heard them whisper.

"Why don’t you just get her to join us, then you can just order it." the voice I recognised as Alex’s put a bigger frown on my face, what did he mean?

"She's welcome to join but I won’t force her." Tory growled at his friend.

I took a few more steps and their conversation grew louder, my view was obstructed by a car but I could hear them loud and clear.

"Why, you think she’s just going to ask? She’s a rouge!" he replied his voice rising, and I knew they were talking about me, whatever it was about, was important enough to argue over, which really wasn’t good.

I hugged my bag closer to my chest, getting a sick feeling in my stomach.

“You really want to risk it, we need her!” Tory replied and looked around the car park, a few students had stopped but after seeing his angry face fled for the main building.

I rested my head against the car and closed my eyes, staying low and out of view.

"Have you talked to Rane yet?" matt asked snapping his atention back.

Tory growled, the sound rumbling through the now empty carpark but didnt reply.

I waited for them to go inside before I made my move and quickly ran through the double doors. I was now late 2 days in a row, only this time I don’t think my excuse would really cut it.

 I rifled through my chemistry notes trying to concentrate on what the teacher was saying but finding it extremely difficult when all I could focus on were those three words, 'we need her'

“So I hear you met Jessica?” matt asked before the whole lunch table burst into laughter, I looked at him confused, what was so funny?

“Err, yeah?”

“Alright guys, please don’t start, seriously she’s not that bad.” Tory defended.

“Uh huh... she’s not that bad,” Alex agreed, “unless you spend more than 5 seconds in the same room as her.” He added causing more laughter.

“Yeah, this one time I was partnered with her for a patrolling exercise,” the table gave pitiful looks, “and the whole time she wouldn’t stop complaining about how she should be partnered with you.” Jake said looking at Tory who now looked really uncomfortable and was spreading warning looks.

Beth nudged me in the side, and began whispering in my ear about how obsessed Jessica was with the alpha, and how she practically worshiped his every step.

“you should of seen it last night,” she continued to talk, “ first Jessica came storming in screaming for us to get out her way whist ranting about; I quote ‘some stupid bitch trying to steal my future husband’ before heading up to her room and slamming the door.” She had a huge smile on her face and I had a feeling she disliked Jessica even more than the others.
