Chapter Two:

After an agonising three hour drive Emma's new home came into view. Emma, being the miserable teen she was, expected it to be a total dump. To her surprise it turned out to be sweet middle-sized Victorian home. It wasn't in the best shape though, with the white paint peeling off and the garden an overgrown forest of weeds.

Emma's mother let out an excited squeal. "Oh Emma darling isn't this just lovely!" She got an unenthusiastic moan from her daughter in the back seat. "I know you're mad but do try to cheer up. It's actually quite a sweet little house."

Emma grumbled and climbed out of the car closing the door with a bang. What Emma did not witness was her mother leaning her head on the steering wheel whispering, 'what the hell am I going to do with her?'

Both of their moods had turned sullen when they had to pull their suitcases up the small hill.

Kathy's breathing turned rugged as she climbed further "You know what Ems? I'm just gonna-" she breathed in heavily "take a little break you go on up." The only sign that Emma had heard her was the fact that she continued to trudge up the steep hill.

Emma cursed as her spotty blue and white flat fell off, causing her foot to sink into the grassy muddy hill. Emma had a habit of talking to herself when she was alone, seeming as she couldn't find any other human who she could talk comfortably with.

"'Oh come on baby girl it'll be great fun, you'll get to go to a bigger school and live in a bigger house, everything will be better!'" Emma said mimicking her mothers bubbly toned voice. "Yeah right, thanks for bringing me to hell mum, really appreciate it. It's not like I had friends at my small school or a homey bedroom at my small house." She said in her own husky voice.

When she finally reached her new front door she was out of breath. Emma was a slight girl, delicate and thin, thanks to her distaste for most foods. She wasn't exactly anorexic, but she could definitely gain a few pounds. The hard walk up the hill was definitely taking it's toll on her bird-like structure of a body. She sighed deeply remembering that she lived here now, and would have to take that miserable walk everyday.

"Great" she said sarcastically.
