DARLING DUCKLINGS
One little duckling paddling on the water
One little duckling doing what he ought to
One little duckling following another
Looks much like the first one, could be his brother
Three little ducklings paddling on the river
Looking so naive, no sign of a quiver
Four little ducklings paddling on the water
Mother duck leading, doing what she ought to
Along comes a hunter paddling his canoe
One shot from his gun; now there are only two
Mother duck and duckling paddling back home
Both feeling lost as if they were alone
Mother paddling hard to make it to the bay
Her tiny duckling struggling all the way
Meanwhile the hunter, so proud of his catch
Paddles to the next bay to shoot one more batch
Poor little duck families have much to fear
Spring for them is a dangerous time of year
