Chapter 5
-Day 2 Part 2-
No one has ever called me cheesecake or some other thing.
Stanley Tideson was the first.
"We're reachin' soon, cheesecake," Stanley said happily. "Can your little cheese brain figure out where we're going?"
Cheese brain?!
I looked at my surroundings and saw the silhouette of a wheel.
"Lemme guess, we're going to an amusement park," I said.
"Bingo! Seems like your little cheese brain is working well for you huh? It even got you a right answer in geography class yesterday," he smirked.
Before I could say anything, he stopped the car and told me to get out.
"Let's go!" he said, tugging me like how a little boy tugs his mother.
We walked to the main entrance where the ticket office was and Stanley bought two tickets.
"So where do we go first?" I asked.
"Your choice, cheesecake."
"The Ferris wheel we saw earlier on, then."
"Wow, great minds do think alike."
It wasn't a long queue at the Ferris wheel so we didn't have to wait long.
When it was our turn, an orange capsule came and stopped, inviting us to get in.
"Hop on," the ride operator said. Then he closed the door and the ride continued.
When it was just about to reach the top, I felt a hand holding mine.
Stanley.
It's got to be.
He started to say something, and it made my mind go crazy.
"Chelsene, I have a confession to make," he started. "I've wanted to tell you for a really long time that I admire you. Could you give me a chance and allow us to go steady?"
I opened my mouth to say something but he put a hand up, indicating that he had not finished.
"I'm really upset that I couldn't ask you to the prom. I really regret making that stupid promise. I don't even like Kimberly. I'm pretty sure you know about that promise. Cory must have told you about it."
I need time to digest all this. Trying my best to avoid Stanley's eyes, I diverted my attention to the sunset that could be seen from my capsule window.
Ah, what a beautiful sight. The orange sky and the light grey clouds seem like a perfect match.
I felt the capsule go down to three quarters of the ride.
"Okay, I'll give you a chance," I said unsurely.
As soon as I said that, the ride started to move down from its current position.
The ride stopped and the door opened. Stanley got out first and helped me out.
"Thanks for giving me a chance, Chelsene. So... are we officially dating now?" Stanley asked, giving me a genuine smile. (Not that the other smiles he gives me are fake.)
Full of smiles, I nodded as we walked to a restaurant near the Ferris wheel and had a scrumptious meal there.
