At his target !!

Struggles

'Sam... sam... where the hell are you???' Stella calls out from at the door to Samantha's house.

'Coming... just a moment Stella' Samantha shouts back from the kitchen where she was preparing some juice for her mom for breakfast.

She glances at the big clock kept in their hallway,which clearly looked borrowed from the 18th century striking an early 8!!

Wondering why Stella must be howling so early in the morning she stomped her way to the door ...'why on earth are you shouting out my name at this ungodly hour Stell.. ?' Opening the door Samantha inquired her best friend.

'I have the biggest news for you darling'! Stella chimed and continued

'My brother Brian ...is working at this company in Brooklyn and a job offer has just opened up there, he mentioned it to me and I spoke about you being interested !' ...'So he's asked you to go down for an interview with all your super graded documents!!' She completed clapping happily .

Stella was spell bound for a moment there and couldn't find words to thank her friend for this great news that she gave her at the start of the day .

Samantha worked at the local florists shop after completing her graduation and honours... She had worked like hell to get her grades specially since her father left her and her mother to fend for themselves without a dime.

Her mom did a job at the florist earlier but then even her health started to fail her ...all the years of stress piling up on her head made Christine weak and bedridden for most of her time now.

Hearing the news that Stella gave her ,Samantha hugged her best friend and got her inside her humble abode to know more about what she was actually speaking about and wether it was as real as she was thinking.

For Samantha this was when the heavens were finally smiling upon her... the job at the florist was not what she must be doing in the first place....for pete's sake !!

she had a diploma in financial studies and along with that it was hectic and she had to do late nights walking home alone after winding up.

But she severely needed the money and her mom's ex employer,Mr. Jose was ready to offer her help in such crunch times.

Samantha never knew her father,at least not properly as he left both of them when she was only 4 years.. after which she never found her mother smile ever!! Christine had started to life her life on auto mode so that she could fend for herself and her daughter and could make her daughter study enough to get a good job instead of rotting in their small town ,wallowing in self pity and to never ever be dependent on another man!!

Shaking off her present ,Samantha looked to her where Stella was standing and waiting for her to explain how this much awaited lucky job would be hers!

'Really Stella ...are you serious, ? I sure hope you are dead serious and this is not some prank' she coaxed her

'Yes my dear friend,its one hundred percent true what. You heard ...you just have to plan to go to Brooklyn and give your interview which I'm sure you will clear !!Stella told her

'Oh my god... i dont believe this... is this really happening Stella!! Samantha shrieked ...she couldn't keep her excitement from doing a jig around Stella ...

But then it struck her that in all her excitement ,she had forgotten about Christine completely! she was bed- ridden and under no circumstances could she afford to leave her mother in that state... but before she could tell Stella anything about her problem ...she heard her friend saying

'And don't you worry about Christine ...I'm going to make myself at home here until you go and come back..I will take care of everything here .. I just want you to get this job so that I can go shopping on your first huge pay '' she winked across at Samantha ...

Without saying a word ...Samantha enveloped her friend in the biggest bear hug ...she knew how badly she needed this job and Stella was good enough to cover up for her until she was back... everything was looking great!!

'Mum ...I have got a great offer from a company in Brooklyn through Stella's cuz... What do you think about that'! Samantha slowly gave the news to her mother.

The usually always tired looking Christine suddenly had color to her cheeks and sparkle in her eyes ...and hugged her daughter who was bend over her.. Trying to get some soup into her system.

'I couldn't have been more happy darling ..it's my dream come true,finally I can rest in peace if I have to go this very moment' ...Christine sobbed ...

'Dare you would say anything like that mom... !! I'm doing this for us ...for you like how you have always looked after both of us all these years'! Samantha wept onto her mother's shoulder and prayed hard that everything works out fine this one time .

Next morning after much prepping up from Stella ... Packed onto her best clothes and booked her ticket for Brooklyn .

She chatted up with Brian to know more about the company and the post she was applying for ..and was very glad that she knew someone in a completely new city .

Later in the day Samantha walked down to her workplace to notify Mr. James of the recent developments..

'I couldn't be more happier Sam' ..Mr. James told her ...'I have been the one to witness almost everything in your life since you were 5 and this news you just gave me is by far the best .'please don't let anything stop you.. I have immense faith in you and the god up there'! he said motioning towards the heavens..

Samantha was much relieved on his reception to the news and was surprised when he cleared her monthly dues beforehand as it was just the 21st of her work day!! 'keep it' you will need it ..'he told her sternly !!

Samantha made their goodbyes and walked back to her block all the time her mind thinking how would it be to have someone as sweet as Mr.James as her father!!

After all the final preparations were done ...Stella got back to her house with the supplies for the days Samantha would be gone and wished her friend much luck on the way to the airport!

The ride was a rather painful one for Samantha as she had never left her mother alone for such a long period of time ...but it was for everyone's betterment ..she calmed her mind with that thought and finally she was in the plane and ready to take off to the new world awaiting her !!
