I was darting down the sidewalks to school, as usual.
"I'm gonna be late!" I gasped between scattered breaths. I sat down on a bench to catch my breath and was about to go inside, when suddenly I heard a scream from across the street.
I turned the corner and stood frozen as I stared awestruck at a extraordinary creature destroying the streets. It was a huge, black, demon-like...thing. It's face was just a blur of shadow with two purple lights gleaming through them for eyes. It had four big paws that kept its midsection in the air and thudded when they hit the ground with a quake that could knock down a mountain. My jaw hung open and I turned to sprint away, when I noticed something.
There was a man trapped by the beast, standing on the pavement under its torso. Whenever he tried to move, the creature slapped its paw down in his path, keeping him stuck.
My legs wouldn't move. I was petrified in fear and I didn't know what to do.
Suddenly, I didn't know what it was, but I was overcome with a feeling of fierce bravery. I gritted my teeth, narrowed my eyes, and ran. I flopped onto my side and slid on the ground between the demon's front legs, grabbing the man's hand and sliding through the other way.
"Go!" I called to him. He looked at me with an exasperated look and caught his breath.
"Thank you, young lady."
With that, he was gone.
The creature however was far from gone. It gnashed its teeth at me for taking its hostage. But I still felt strong, like I could take it on.
I stood my ground. It swung a ginormous paw at me but I hit the deck before it hit me. I looked around the ground trying to find something to fight with. A small, black wooden yo-yo rolled towards me and I snatched it.
"This'll have to work!" I sighed with a shrug. Putting my finger through the string's loop, I grounded myself.
Students began flooding out of the school. I searched the crowd for Alya, who I finally found videotaping me.
"Here goes nothing," I whispered under my breath. With that, I hurled the yo-yo at the creature, successfully wrapping it around its leg, revealing a half-silver half-black band on its ankle. Narrowing my eyes, I pulled harder.
The band broke in two.
I stood triumphant and caught my breath, happy to be finished. As the yo-yo came back, I tried to catch it but I fumbled and it fell on the ground. It broke open, leaving a small box behind, which I picked up and placed in my bag.
As for the beast, it had reared its head up in the air with a roar and began to shrink. It fell on its side and became so small it seemed a human...no, it was a human!
It shrank into the form of a boy, maybe my age, who lay quivering on the ground. I was about to go help him, when I suddenly heard Alya calling me.
"Marinette!" She shouted, "Come on, girl get up!"
"Hm?" I groaned, "Wha-what happened?"
"You missed the whole first half of the day!" She responded, "You've been asleep on this bench the whole time! It's lunch now!" I looked around me to see students flooding out of Collège François Dupont, eager to begin their meal.
"Nino, Adrien and I were heading to the park for lunch," She said, "Wanna come?"
"Adrien?" I asked.
"Oh yeah! You weren't here," Alya began, "New kid in our class. He's a model and Gabriel Agreste's son!"
"G-Gabriel Agreste?! No way!" I gasped, "He's only the best designer in all of Paris! Wait, a model and his son...Adrien? As in Adrien Agreste? Oh my god, and I'm going to lunch with him! Gabriel Agreste's son!" I looked down at myself. "Nuh-uh! Not dressed like this!"
I was wearing a baggy pink sweater (now covered with dirt from the bench) and ripped jeans. I had just thrown something on, little had I known I would be meeting Gabriel Agreste's son!
"I'm gonna run home and change!" I called sprinting away, "Tell them I'll be right there!"
Alya shook her head with a smile and said, "What am I gonna do with her?"

I rummaged through my closet, trying to find something suitable to wear. I ended up picking out a sundress that had a blue top, a pink skirt and sleeves. (I called it my cotton candy dress, since it was the cotton candy blue and pink colors.) I put on some black tights and wore some strappy sandal heels that were the same shade of pink. I tied my hair up in a ponytail with a blue ribbon. I started heading for the door when I realized I forgot my bag.
I snatched my bag off the table, but something fell out.
...it was the box from my dream!
I picked it up and examined it quizzically. "No way," I breathed.
I opened up the box but I was taken aback by a bright red light that came from it.
"Ah!" I shouted, "What is that?!"
The light dimmed, leaving behind a giant...bug...creature?
"Correction, who is that!" It said.
"Ummmm...what's going on?!"
"My name is Tikki!" It-no-She explained, "I'm your kwami!"
"My what now?" I asked.
"Kwami!" She responded, "You have been chosen, Marinette! You will be an amazing superhero and save tons of people!"
"Uhhhhhhhh pass?" I squeaked.
"Marinette," Tikki said, "This is a great honor! Are you sure you want to pass it up?"
"Uh..." I thought, biting my bottom lip, "...I'll think about it."
"Yay!" She shouted, grabbing a pair of earrings from the box, "Now, put these on! These are your Miraculous!"
"My what?" I asked, slipping the earrings on.
Tikki proceeded to tell me about Miraculous and their powers, and what mine would be.
"I've gotta meet some friends for lunch," I explained (when she was finished), opening my bag, "Hop in!"
