In a chair beside a desk in a corner is the most fit guy I have ever seen in my life. Short, cropped brown hair, bulky shoulders and biceps screaming to be released from underneath a blue t-shirt, Penn State sweats and no shoes, only black socks…this guy is perfect.
Um, I mean…if I was into football players, which I’m not. Even though I am gay I do have standards, you know. It’s not like I go around shagging every guy I come across. I clear my throat to get his attention. Mr. Muscles turns to look at me, his chocolate brown eyes locking onto my own blue ones.
“Hi,” I say, trying to start a conversation. Liam looks me up and down a few times before sighing.
“You must be my roommate,” He says. His voice is like honey and ringing with authoritity. Yep, definitely not my type. I mentally pout. I was hoping to have a roommate I could hook up with this year, but no, the gay gods have punished me.
“Yeah, I’m Louis Tomlinson,” I say, forcing a smile and holding out my hand for him to shake it. This guy and I definitely aren’t going to get along, I can tell already.
“I’m Liam Payne,” He says, staring at me. He’s judging my stripes and suspenders, I can tell.
“Yeah, uh,” I scratch the back of my head and squirm slightly. “Can you stop doing that?”
“Doing what?” Liam asks, his hard expression not changing a bit.
“That,” I say.
“What?” He asks, his face like a statue of a really pissed off Greek god. I gulp and point at him.
“That weird stare thing,” I say. “It’s kind of creepy.”
“Humph,” He crosses his arms over his shoulders and leans back in his swivel chair, his eyes still staying fixed on me. I purse my lips and nod. So that’s how it’s going to be.
“Well, then,” I scoff and cross my arms over my own chest. “Two can play at that game.” I stare at him, mimicking his stone-hard expression. After a few moments he raises an eyebrow.
“Louis? What are you doing?” He asks.
“I don’t know,” I raise an eyebrow quizzically. “What are you doing?”
“I’m trying to figure out just how crazy you are on a scale from one to Simon Cowell,” He says. I scoff.
“Simon Cowell is the bomb,” I say. “Duh.”
“Um…” Liam looks at a loss for words. “Where are you from and who exactly are you?”
“I’m Louis the ‘Tommo’ Tomlinson, aka the Swagmasta from Doncasta,” I throw up a random peace sign.
“Isn’t Doncaster in England?” Liam says.
“Very good,” I patronize him.
“Then what are you doing in Penn State?” He asks. I roll my eyes.
“I moved to the States when I was five,” I answer. “I’ve dreamed of coming here since I was ten and went to a football game and got to meet one of the graduates from their Drama department. It was awesome.”
“Ah, so you’re a Drama major,” Liam nods as if that explains everything. “That would be the reason for the stripes and suspenders and terrible acting.”
“Oh like you could do any better,” I roll my eyes.
“Whatever,” Liam rolls his eyes. “We have a mini fridge in here and I was going to go shopping later. I’m stocking it with Red Bull, do you want me to grab anything else?”
“Um, Red Bull’s fine,” I smile. “And maybe some carrots?”
“Carrots?” He nods even though he obviously has no idea why I’d say carrots.
“I like carrots,” I say defensively.
“Whatever,” Liam rolls his eyes and slips on a pair of sneakers before grabbing his keys. “I’m leaving. Keep your stuff on your side of the room and don’t touch mine. I’ll be back in less than an hour and when I get back we’re setting some ground rules down, got it?” I nod and roll my eyes as he leaves.
This should be a fun school year.
