Most English speakers think Korean has thousands of characters, like Chinese, but it actually has a very simple and logical alphabet. ^_^

Hangeul 한글 is the Korean alphabet. It has been used to write the Korean Language since its creation in the 15th century under Sejong the Great.

It is the official writing system of South Korea and North Korea.

The alphabet consists of 14 consonants and 10 vowels. Hangul letters are grouped into syllabic blocks, vertically and horizontally.

For example:
The Korean word for:
"Thank You"
Is written:
"감사함니다"
Not:
"ㄱ ㅏ ㅁ ㅅ ㅏ ㅎ ㅏ ㅁ ㄴ ㅣ ㄷ ㅏ" .
