Chapter One- Awkward Hugs

I ran back to Luke's in the pouring rain with my head down in case anyone noticed me. Everyone knows everyone in this town and the last thing i need is bumping into someone i know whilst I'm an emotional wreck. I was finally on Luke's street and then lightning struck really loud as the rain got heavier. I was freezing without looking where i was going ran towards Luke's house and ran straight into someone. I lifted my head slightly and saw Luke's favourite shirt 'You complete meSS' i didn't look up at his face because then he would see how upset I was and I didn't want him to be concerned.So, i just wrapped my arms around him tight and gave him a hug expecting him to hug me back but he just stood there awkwardly whilst I sobbed quietly into his t-shirt.

'Erm Hi?... Er, Are you okay?' An unfamiliar voice spoke, I looked up and saw a boy who was definitely not Luke. He had a perfect smile, cute dimples, ash blonde cute, curly hair and hazel eyes. He looked down at me and saw how upset I looked and his smile dropped into a frown,

' Are you crying...?' He asked softly. I stepped away a bit embarrassed that I hugged a stranger, probably one of Luke's friends whilst it was pouring down, but he pulled me back and hugged me tighter than anyone else ever had in my life and whispered in my ear as we walked towards the door. 'Aww don't cry....It's okay come on, lets go inside its a bit stormy out here isn't it...'

Once we were inside, we walked into the kitchen and he shut the door behind us. i noticed Luke wasn't home and Calum was in his room, i didn't want him to see my cry so i tried not to make any noise. My clothes were dripping wet and i was still crying and shaking. The boy was still hugging me, it was calming me down and i didn't want to let go but, I felt weird hugging some random stranger, but he he obviously knew Luke because he was wearing his top so it didn't feel that weird.

'Please stop crying,' he said, '...whatever is wrong i promise you it will get better okay? Everything is going to be okay... just breathe in and out' This made me cry and shake even more because nothing is going to get better and everything is not going to be okay. My parents are dead and there is nothing i can do to bring them back. I don't even want to be alive anymore, i want to be with them wherever they are.

'Hey, come on don't cry.' he whispered as he rubbed my back slowly to calm me down. He sounded so concerned and i don't even know why... he doesn't even know me. Why does he even care? No one else does so, why should he?

'Do you want me to call Luke so he can come home, or do you want me to get Calum he's probably only upstairs?' he mumbled. I shook me head and then whispered,

'No please don't! He can't see me like this he will call his mum.' i sobbed, as my wet clothes dripped onto the floor creating a puddle. I was so cold i started to shiver.

'Are you cold?' he asked, i was freezing to death but, i had no clothes to change into as they were all either in the wash or back at my house. I can't go back there right now. i don't want too. Luke said he would bring my clothes to his today but he probably forgot. So i just nodded because if i said no he could tell that i was lying. My hands were so cold they felt de-oxygenated.

'Okay, lets get you changed into something warm, we don't want you getting sick do we? I will still be here when you get back and we can talk about why you are upset once your dressed if you want, i'm not going anywhere until your okay' He promised. As i nodded in response the kitchen door flew open and Calum walked in humming some song, probaby one him and Luke wrote in their band.

'Hey Ashton, i thought you left already?,(So thats what his name was 'Ashton') Calum grinned and then started singing-

"You're just a little bit out of my limit..." he stopped singing when he saw me standing behind Ashton with hands covering my face, 'Oh hey Elle i didn't know you were home, er, are you okay?' he questioned. I let go of Ashton and wiped my tears with my jacket sleeve then turned around and said, 'Yeah i'm good thanks, just a bit wet.' in the most reassuring tone i could pull off. Calum shrugged then kept humming whilst he got a glass of milk out from the fridge. Ashton knew i didn't want Calum to see me upset so he told him i was fine and that was just cold and wet from the rain. Cal looked a bit confused and said ' How do you guys even know each other? You only just joined the band, wait did you guys know each other before?...'

I didn't know what to say so i kinda just stood there awkwardly until Ashton spoke for me. God i was such an awkward person.... ' We actually just met funny enough, didn't' we Elle' he said whilst smiling down at me, showing off his adorable dimples that any girl would fall for.

'Yeah...' i said softly whilst i nodded in response.

Calum smirked, then winked at Ash for some odd reason whilst he walked out of the kitchen back to his room i presume and yelled back, 'Oii Ash don't forget we have band practice tomorrow at 8 in the morning. And Elle, Luke forgot to get your stuff and he told me to tell you he will get them on his way back from work tonight.'

Band practice... Shit. I just met one of Luke's band mates who was not only really cute but one of lukes close friends whilst i was in the middle of a mental breakdown. How embarrassing he's going to tell Luke. Could my day get any worse?

'Okay i think you should go get changed now' he said whilst taking of Luke's top which was soaking wet. God he was hot, i thought as I stood there and flushed. Ashton then looked down at me and laughed kinda high pitched, like a school girl which made me realise i was staring and grinning at him.

' Are you going to get changed or...' he asked me. My grin dropped and i couldn't find the right words to say...

' All my stuff, is at my-,' I couldn't say it, 'my paren-, my old house' i explained.

'oh okay no problem, i will just get a jacket and we can go get your stuff to save Luke getting it later.'

' I can't go back their yet, not yet i'm not ready. I can't see their stuff again, i wouldn't be able to cope' Ashton then put all the puzzle pieces together and realized i was Luke's cousin, the girl who lost her parents in a fatal car crash, the girl who was moving in with him and Cal, the monster, the girl who did drugs He was speechless and by the expression on his face he didn't know what to say and neither did i so we both stood there awkwardly for about 10 seconds.

'That's okay...' he said softly, 'so your Luke's cousin? Elle isn't it?' he questioned, i nodded in response.

' Erm, hold on i will be right back' ,he ran upstairs and then came back about 30 seconds later puffed out of breath holding a top and a hoodie. By now he probably doesn't want anything to do with me and was probably going to leave me here till Luke gets back.

'Here, i know this is not exactly what your probably want to be wearing right now but, go put this on to keep you warm until Luke gets back with your stuff.' He held out his top and hoodie and placed them in my hand.

I raised my eyebrows not because I was ungrateful but because I didn't understand why he was helping me.

'Don't worry they are not dirty, i keep some of my clothes around as i'm round here most of the time with Luke and that .'

'Thank you.' I whispered, i then gave him a quick hug and said 'Thank you Ash' Not just for comforting me and calming me down but for letting me borrow his clothes even though he didn't really know anything about me excpet that i was Luke's cousin and an emotional wreck.

i'm going to upload alot more over the next two weeks as i have no school, thank god!

I'm sorry if this sucks right know i promise you it's going to get ALOT better this is just the necessary stuff i have to put in the build up the story.
